The Grotto is an Extra Pale Ale that is light in color but high on crushability. The Grotto is your mystic cave of sessionable waters. We pulled inspiration for The Grotto from pale ales of yore - a simple malt bill consisting of 2-Row & Munich, topped off with Centennial and Cascade hops.

On-tap at Half Acre. Served in a pint glass.

A - White foam settles to a near-complete cap, collar, and splotchy lacing. Lightly hazed golden straw body.

S - Sharp, zesty, piney hops, with pithy grapefruit and light orange flesh. Not much malt; perhaps a bit of cracker and yeasty bread.

T - The taste is again heavy on bitter grapefruit and pint, with some supporting crackery malts. Low sweetness, and moderate bitterness that stays consistent throughout the pint. Not the most complex beer, but at 4.5% that's not totally surprising.

M - Medium-light body, dry finish, with crisp, moderate carbonation. Refreshing and goes down pretty quickly.

D - A nice session offering, although I think I prefer Callow Knife. Still, it's an enjoyable hoppy beer that you could drink all evening. A touch more sweetness mix help a bit, but this is a nice riff on some 'old-school' American hops.

Poured from growler into glass

A: Crystal clear, nice yellow appearance. Great carbonation, a healthy 2 finger of white head fluffy head. Nice carbonation bubbles rising.

S: A nice crisp hop presense. Not aggressive, but well balanced. Lemon, pale malt, a bit biscuity, A nice blend of spice and fruit, like pineapple and orange.

T: A nice balance between fruit, spice, and biscuity malt same as the nose. A dry bitter finish of pine. A hint of honey sweetness.

M: Crisp, light, nicely carbed. Very refreshing

O: A solid APA. Nothing mindblowing. A nice balance of hops and malt. Super easy drinking. It's no Daisy Cutter, but its tasty.
