Firkin Friday at Half Acre. Got a 5oz taster of this one.
A - White foam settles to a big collar and thin cap, leaving behind minimal lace. Hazy, purple-tinged straw body.
S - Nice pluot aroma here, with the mix of acidic, tart peel and sweet flesh. The base beer's spicy yeast, stone fruit malts, and slightly sharp cereal grains are present too.
T - The taste has more of the base Saison and less of the pluots. The sweeter flesh mingles with the stone fruit malts, and there's only mild fruity acidity in the periphery. That said, the fruit addition is an improvement as it blunts some of the odd yeast note I got from regular ol' Sky Devil.
M - Surprisingly zesty carbonation for a cask; guessing there might have been some fermentable sugars in the pluots for the live yeast to eat. Gritty and tannic texture, with lingering stickiness. Slightly juicy, with no obvious alcohol.
D - This is a moderate improvement on the base beer. Quite refreshing, with nice integration of fruit. Not a cask I think they need to make again, but a fun diversion for Firkin Friday. Pretty easy to drink in any case.
