The taproom was closed on the day of my visit (1/12/16), as they are remodeling to make room for a new kitchen. But the store was open for samples & growler fills, and the staff was very friendly & knowledgeable. The beers, of course, speak for themselves. This place is a must stop whenever you are in Chicago. Can't wait to check out the kitchen & taproom on my next visit.

Went there for the Big Hugs release this year so naturally things were a little crowded and crazy. The staff did a great job getting us through the lines and I thought everything ran smoothly.

The taproom itself is really cool. I like that there are no tvs. Just a place to have a good beer and chat with your friends. The bear hanging over the bar is awesome. Lots of little details that made this tap room very cool. I highly recommend this place to any out of town visitor looking for a good place for a beer.

The wife and I stopped at Half Acre before meeting a friend at the nearby Fountainhead. This neighborhood is full of bars and things and I will have to come back to peruse and imbibe.

The Half Acre taproom is small and loud but fun, manned by friendly bearded hipster folks, playing cool music and with awesome artsy décor (wooden walls that look like sculptures, an angry bear behind the bar and a Tom-of-Finland-meets-Neo-Rauch oversized painting.

10 taps behind the bar, all Half Acre. Cool beer menu, too, leather-bound and Bible-like.

You know the Half Acre pale ales. They don’t disappoint. Akari, Daisy, Miller, Tuna, Lead Feather, Hefe, GoneAway… I would say they are not the world-class, unique pale ales we thought they were five years ago, but they are still plenty delicious. Served in 8-16-21 oz, ranging from 3 dollars to six. They are expanding, adding a chef and a food menu and opening a second location.

Great spot, it's just TINY. They don't serve food, but they'll hook you up with some solid take out menus. Beers are fantastic.

Half Acre has a fun little taproom on the trendy Lincoln Avenue. Fun place with a funky vibe that seems friendly, open and inviting. Wood benches and tables are pretty minimalist but do the job.
Service is pub-style, at the bar but seemed fairly quick even with a decent Sunday evening crowd.
The beers are great with a nice variety even though the number of taps is rather limited.
Price are reasonable with the inexpensive half-pints a nice option for trying several beers. Great store next door as well with growler fills and excellent service.

Half Acre's Tap Room, much like the neighborhood it inhabits, is pretty much a mix of everything geared for, well... everyone.

During the day, Half Acre is a mecca for Mid-West beer geeks in search of its fabled nectar (a.k.a. Daisy Cutter) -- during the afternoon, it turns into a drinking hole for the locals and the college students getting out of class; at night, it turns into a classy lounge for the young and hip elite of Northern Chicago.

No matter what time of the day you set your foot into Half Acre, the beer is always flowing and delicious; the knowledgeable wait staff are nice and friendly, but of course in the urban Mid-Western kind of way. They don't serve food, but they're very laissez-faire about letting patrons order/bring food in -- they also don't seem to set limits on the amount of beer you can take home, in case the draft offerings weren't quite enough.

Now if only Double Daisy Cutter was available year round...
