Been here a number of times, never fails to impress. Will be going back frequently.

A - The Abbey is a relatively small space with a good size bar and about a dozen tables - most of which seat 6 people comfortably and there are a couple of 2 tops also. Outdoor section is spacious and a great place to sit, have a beer and watch people in the summer. Small place, but feels very spacious - really high ceilings, nice brick wall, somewhat dim lighting. Puts off a really relaxed and comfortable vibe.

Q & S - Tap list is practically always amazing and changes over frequently. Always a great selection of Belgians, many different styles - lambics, pales, dubbels, tripels, flanders reds, etc - something for everyone. The rest of the 22 taps are a great mix of craft beers from the US - a good mix of local crafts and top beers from the rest of the country. Typicaly get beers here that you won't find almost anywhere else. Only disappointment is that the beers turn over so fast, they can't keep the tap list up to date...not unusual to get psyched to see a beer on the board and find out the keg kicked. Personally, I always stay with the selections on tap, but the bottle menu is extensive and packed with quality beers too.

S - If you go here early (before 6pm) you can have the place almost to yourself and the wait staff is very attentive. After 6, the place fills in and gets really busy. Given the number of people typically here on a night, the waitstaff does a good job here. They are typically attentive enough, but not obtrusive. They are generally friendly, and all very knowledgable about the beers they have and can answer the typical questions and make recommendations too.

F - The beer is the main draw here, but the food quality is excellent also. The combination of great beer and great food is what really keeps me coming back here over and over. Menu changes with the seasons - always focuses on what is fresh and in season for produce. They source from local farms and everything is top quality. Recipes are interesting and not the typical fare found at beer bars. The pizzas are really good and the grilled cheese with honey and strawberries is amazing. Cheese plates are a meal in themselves and should not be missed - and always pair well with the beers on hand.

V - I would say the value here is very good. Prices are on the high side, and I always seem to spend more than I think I will when here...but I never feel cheated. Always feel that the money spent was worth it for the beer, food, and the experience.

Not a bargain night out - but definitely a must stop for beer lovers and foodies as well. If you are both, you won't be disappointed.

Well apparently my review of Armsby was deleted or lost accidentally. Well... let's just say this is one of the best bars in the world! I've been around many places in the world, through Europe, some Asia, a little bit West coast U.S., and all over East Coast U.S., and this is def one of the best, if not The best bars I've ever been to. Many people get a pretentious beer geek vibe from it, which I can totally see, but you really have to get to know them to know that's just an external vibe. They are really great here, very knowledgeable and fun to talk to. They can pick out almost any beer to match one of their amazing locally sourced cuisines almost perfectly.

Prices are maybe the only issue... beers are decent but a bit on the high side, typical for a bar that has such an amazing selection, and the food can be pricey but is top top notch food almost all coming from a local farm too. Their selection of beers are amazing, with many taps, 8 or so always dedicated to Belgian beers, and countless amazing bottles that are constantly changing. Often I really have no idea how they can get many of the beers they do, lots of aged beers, super limited beers, and ones I had no idea existed or were only made for a specific event at Armsby.

Speaking of events, nothing compares to the Armsby events, from their Founders Breakfast, to stoutfest, their Christmas beerfest, to brewery take-overs, everything is always amazing. And now that they expanded the size it's even better so they can fit more people inside.

As a semi foodie it's also amazing. I try not to spend too much, but the food can be awesome. If you've never been, first thing to get is the mac and cheese, or bone marrow. From there is just gets better and better. Jerk food and other spicy food can be so hot even I have to take a step back. My only regret is that I can't make it there very often anymore due to family and financial obligations. Someday though I'll be back htere a couple times a week, probably with my son when he's old enough. I just hope Alec can hold out that long and keep this place as classy as it is!

Tap list is one of the better ones in the area but over the past half year it's been a tad stale. If you love belgians, there is always a good selection. They tend to have the same breweries on tap (Victory, Stone, Smuttynose, Firestone, Allagash), not that those are bad ones, but if you frequent this place more than once a month, you tend to get bored waiting for new stuff. They do get Trillium and Maine Beer Co. every now and then which is always a bonus.

Most people love the food, but it's a little too out there for me (no pub cheeseburger, etc.) but the cheese slates are outstanding.

Depending on when you go, it tends to get a bit packed, therefore extremely uncomfortable unless you got a seat. But nothing beats getting one of the outdoor tables on a nice summer afternoon.

Bartenders are hit or miss. Some are extremely friendly. And some are dicks. Wish there were a few less of the later.

I have lived in Worcester for over 12 years now and while Armsby Abbey has been open for 6 years, I had not set foot in their establishment until about 2 years ago. Every time I walk in now, I ask myself, "what took you so long?!?"

A-brick interior, inviting bar, low lighting at night, music not too intrusive, and thank heavens for no TV's!
Q-Incredibly fresh food. Period. Mussels steamed in beer finished with pork fat mayo...creative flatbreads...charcuterie slates...oxtail poutine...stout belgian waffles, sweet potato pancakes (mouth waters as I'm writing this!) and of course one of the most diverse offerings OT and in bottles I've ever come across. So, so clean too-you can tell they really pay attention to their taps and lines. Never an off pour here. I always enjoy looking at their lineup on their website and then "planning my strategy" as to which new beer I will be trying when I head in there next.
S-very knowledgeable and seasoned staff; know just when to come over and check in on you and also make great suggestions on pairing.
S- not a huge lineup for food, but everything I've tried I've been pleased with. The OT lineup occasionally has too many selections of a similar type (I'm just getting my toes wet in the pool of stouts and porters, so not as excited to go when several are OT) but bottle lineup is top notch
F-see Q.
V-some of the entrees for dinner are on the high side ($20-$25) but sometimes I go and just grab a few apps and it's affordable. Brunch is very reasonable and most OT selections are between $5-$8 for US and $7-$11 for imports.
