IPA-ish. Not as hoppy. Sweet and malty. Roasty but not overly so.

This was poured into a nonic pint glass. The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a slim finger’s worth of white to off white foamy head that dissipated at a gentle pace. Mild lacing ran around the glass in a messy sort of way. The smell started off with a mild sweet to rustic sort of crisp coffee tones running into some bitter piney hops. The flavor takes the bitter portion of the piney hops and leads on further into the bbitterness of the coffee tones. Big bitter piney to coffee aftertaste and finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sipping quality about it. Carbonation seemed fairly strong but still allowing enough harshness from the bitter hops and coffee tones to cling to my tongue. Overall, I say this was a pretty good black IPA that I could have again. And the alcohol level really wasn’t felt.

4x16oz cans for around $15. Poured into a willy glass. Dark, dark semi-translucent brown with a finger of chocolate head that leaves lines of lace around the glass. Aroma is a bit odd, with lavender and salt-water taffy in there (best way I can describe it). Taste is pretty nice, combining a sweet malty roasted flavor with a fairly bitter finish - not what I would call a hoppy beer. Mouth is interesting, with a syrupy sweetness, but bitter enough to keep it enjoyable. Overall, I'm digging it for now. We'll see how the next three cans go.

Aroma- some smoke, but otherwise empty. Dark black color with a Foamy tan head. Smoke, ash, hops barley. Hint of coffee. Smooth feel, above average carb. Not bad in the end. Taste is a bit funky.

High alcohol leaves a lasting warmth and is very prominent in smell
