From BeerAdvocate Magazine Volume III, Issue II:
Slightly bronzed amber color. Oh yeah, we are looking at a hoppy beer, as there is a faint haze and the head drops a web-like lace on the glass. Fruity, minty hop aroma: Suggestions of mango and passion fruit, evergreen and eucalyptus, all fill the nostrils. Smooth medium body. Mildly coarse hop bitterness slowly plows over the palate; nice bite as it cuts through the malt quickly, like any good PNW IPA will. Yeah, there is malt here, and it's sturdy enough to hold this beer together with quick smatterings of toasted grain. Wow, some serious hopping, with a roller coaster ride from the bitterness to a thick underbelly of fruitiness, to more spicy, minty, citric and tobacco flavors. Of course, some of that fruitiness is probably coming from the slowly warming alcohol. Finishes bitter, leaning toward dry.
Damn, where have you been all of this time. Seriously, hunt this beer down. Mind blowing, from a hop lover's perspective.

Pours clear amber with all the head you could want. Plentiful lacings. Aroma was mild citrus hops, some pine. Taste is resinous hop bitterness with a luscious fruit undertone. A bit of dark leather as well. Keep in mind I bought a growler fill (2) at the brewery so the beer was very fresh. I purchased a couple of bottled bombers of different styles and was fairly disappointed with those other beers. They were out of the bottled IPA so the growler fills were to my benefit it seems. The IPA brought to mind a California beer brewed in Healdsburg whose initials are PTE. I kid you not. So my advice is visit the brewery in Yakima if you are able and get a fill of a very tasty beer.

Poured this one from a bomber, no bottling date. This looks like an incredible IPA. Brilliant color, lots of carbonation and beautiful head retention and lacing. The nose was very disappointing. Almost no hops present. This could be due to age, but I bought it from a store that I would guess has a pretty good amount of turnover. Lots of caramel on the nose and some earthiness with the faintest hint of citrus. The taste was better than the nose. I do get a little bit of orange and tropical fruit, but still less than I hoped. Lots of caramel, followed by a semi dry, pleasantly bitter, earthy finish. The drinkability of this one is a high point. Great level of carbonation and nice, full bodied mouthfeel. Overall, I would have to say this is a little better than an average IPA. With all the good things I've heard about this beer, I would have to guess it was not a very fresh bottle. I would try this again, simply because I want it to be better than it was.

This is a solid IPA, the smell is short but the taste is long. Will not be disappointed buying this one. Short of Great but a solid Yakima Brew. The have the all the hops just down the street so My bet is soon this will be tweaked to be one of the best in the State of Washington for sure.

S - Oranges, melon, sweet malts.

On-tap at Applebee's... I wish more family restaurants had stuff like this!
Bronze with a slightly off-white head, good retention, slight lace.
Aroma is quite piny, with plenty of tropical fruit and a bit of grapefruit rind.
Flavour has a lot of grassy hops with pine, rind, papaya and a hint of pepper. Slightly grainy biscuit is backed by a solid bitterness.
Moderate body has a light hop acidity.
A nice drinker, with a big mix of hops.
Looking back on the reviews... the Bros were spot on with the tobacco flavour. Apparently they really enjoyed it, but it didn't really work for me. Taste is subjective... give it a try!

pours a clear amber-orange with a thin off-white head, and good lacing.
smell is of orange, a little sweetness, some dry leaves, graham cracker, and caramel.
taste is sweet, pear, and caramel, ends weak and not that bitter for an IPA.
overall a little weak for an IPA.

Big foam-up in the narrow tulip. Long time settling down to drinkability. First sip is pretty unrewarding. Peculiar aroma of dried kelp and straw.
Sweet and harsh at the same time. Orange marmalade. There is even a plasticky hint that detracts even further. More bitter than it needs to be. Cardboard and spoiled orange juice with a dash of cinnamon.
From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Haggen Food in Burlington. Ick.

Appearance: Pours a clear amber color with a head that is decent in both size and retention; quite a few shards of lace, too
Smell: Hemp and celery with a biscuity malt base
Taste: Wow, if you want to taste acetone, try this one out, as that nail polish remover dominates from the outset and through the swallow into the finish
Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation
Drinkability: The brewery's slogan is "just good beer" but this is not
Thanks, barleywinefiend, for the opportunity - not your fault

Hazy orange amber big tan foamy/frothy head with good retention and lacing. Earthy, pepper, and citrus aromas. Earthy citrus with hints of pepper and mint with a nice caramel balance and nice hop bitter lingering. Mouthfeel is creamy but a little watery.
A nice showcase of a lot of hop flavors. It's not overhopped but still has a nice moderately strong hoppy bitterness. The only weakness was the mouthfeel finishes a bit thin. This is definitely a great tasting IPA worth revisiting

I rarely give the same score across the board but this beer was very 3.5 to me. I have to agree with the user rating over the Bros score. Very average IPA. On draft, poured a yellowish-orange color with bright white head. Minimal head. Not much aroma. Thin viscosity, almost watery. Less than avg carbonation, decent lace. Hoppy like most WC IPAs but unfortunately nothing special. I would drink again if someone was buying but wouldn't go out of my way for another.

It pours a full bodied orange gold color. Smells a bit sweet and like citrusy hops. The taste starts with an initial semi-bitter hop bite that leads to an unexpected deep caramel malty taste. It ends with a citrusy, weedy -not as in bud weedy though- hop taste. It has a nice low carbonation. Overall its an IPA that is quite good and a bit unique.

On cask at Bob's Keg and Cork in Yakima. Served in a mug.
Appearance is an orange gold color and an unfiltered cloudy. A bubbly white head is present, and not real sticky.
Smell is a cereal grain aroma with a light citrus smell along side. Not the hop fragrance one might expect of an IPA.
Taste is a light citrus flavor to go along with the smell. There is a sizable malt presence for an IPA with a bit of a bitter mint flavor on the finish.
Mouthfeel is a bit "chewy" but clean.
A drinkable IPA once you get past he appearance. Not a great representation of the style.

Fresh bomber into a teku glass.
Pours a very dark copper / almost red color with a very big foamy white head. The smell has a lot of tropical hop notes to it but its not in your face sweet either. Very very nice. Oh wow, the taste is terrific! Hops are very prominent (but not dominating!) but so are the malts. It's like a blend of tropical fruits and piney hops. Makes a sort of tobacco character that i really dig. Real easy to drink but the only drawback is the mouthfeel is a bit light.
Overall Yakima Craft Brewing killed the taste here. grab a bottle asap!
