Black with tight brown frothy head and good retention. Roasty…herbal soap? Balanced roasted malts and chocolate biscuit with light plum sweetness and moderate bitter lingering. Slight alcohol taste. Smooth, moderate body with a light fuzz.

Nice balanced stout with good flavor though I’m not entirely certain about the aromas given off. A little light on the feel but it gives the impression of being a full bodied beer making it a well-crafted, fairly complex stout.

Hops and honey grace this Stout. Big head nearly overflows; opaque presence shouts "Stout!" Burnt sugar and charcoal with some earth citric hop in the aroma. The smoothness in the medium body enhances the drinkabil- ity a lot. Bittersweet, dark chocolate is mild though the char, and hop bitterness is quick to take a bite at the palate. Hints of dark fruit, dried plum and currants come to mind. Bittersweetness rides into the finish. A little complex, but very drinkable.

The beer pours a dark brown color with a white head. The aroma is basic stout. I get a lot of roasted malt and chocolate notes. The flavor is more of the same. The chocolate and roasted malt dominate the flavor and the beer is very dry. I wish there was a little bit more sweetness to the beer, which I think would help it out overall. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Served in straight pint glass. The beer poured very foamy, the bartender had trouble getting a full pour, and ended with a thick full head that had good retention and lacing. The beer itself was the expected black and not translucent at all.

The aroma had a lot of rich, full scents, as expected for the style. Most noticeable were the roasted aromas, with some coffee mixed in. On the tongue the coffee flavors dominated of the roast tastes and the expected malty grain.

The body was very good, full and tongue coating without being overly heavy or sticky. Drinkability was good, but as I don't like coffee, I wouldn't have more than one of these at a sitting, YMMV.

Overall, a decent, slightly better than average example of the style, worth your time if you see it.

pours a jet black with a thin brown head that dissipates quickly, and some lacing.

smell is of malt, cocoa, and some nuts in the back.

taste is smooth, cocoa, some coffee, and a little sour malt, ends a little on the dry side.

overall an okay stout.

Got this in a 22oz bomber from 99 Bottles in Federal Way. Bottle label has an enlarged section of jute rope with a black background with subdued lettering (STOUT) denoting the beer's name. Poured at a cold temp (whatever my frige is at) into a pint glass.

A- poor mustering of a head, light crust of brown floats atop the beer despite an elevated pour. Thin ring of lace clings to the glass encircling the body of the beer. Beer body is black, when held up to the light hues of red can be detected around the bottom parabola of the glass.

S- smells like a Guiness. Almost no aroma, slightest caramel can be coaxed from its depths, followed by black roasted grain.

T- Roasted bitterness greets you, followed by a slight yeasty twang. The roasted bitterness almost hides a sweet malt flavor hiding towards the back. I get coffee, heavy coffee flavors and bitterness, almost to the point of overwhelming. There isn't much depth that I can find in this. I'm searching and all I can taste is the roast bitter and coffee. It is almost tiresome trying to drink this, I could have poured a shot in some construction site coffee left on the grounds overnight and got a similar taste.

M- Appropriate for a stout of this ABV (7% I'm thinking?), it knocks back just fine and leaves a light syrup blanket on the back of the tongue.

D- Not too horrible, but the roast and coffee bitterness keeps me from wanting to drink more. Pretty sad considering I am an avid stout fan. I dunno, maybe I'm off my game tonight so I might have to re-review this at a later date.
