A lovely day up in the mountains that let me try a huge sample of some new NC locals. Always thrilled when a day works out like this one did.

A nice little stroll back to the boone tent revealed a nice summer ale. Being that it was obnoxiously hot, it was about the right time for this one. nice lightly clouded straw color is laid before me with a decent head of white that has a good bit of retention. Aroma is light citrus, grasses, hints of herbal notes and a light grain presence. Warming brings about a touch of almost lemon zest an hints of light heather? Smooth, light body with nice carbonation makes it totally sessionable and the clean finish leaves just a light touch of dryness on the palate.

Overall a very nice summer session ale, crisp, clean, light and full of flavor. Would love to have a sixer on the beach.

a: very hazy golden, fluffy little white head, initially good retention

s: pretty standard nose here - wheat base with some coriander and sweet orange, not overspiced, glimpses of honey, doughy yeasts, very lightly hopped

m: carbonation on the light end, moving towards medium, with a light-medium body

t: full-on wheat body, sweet, with a good balance of coriander and sweet orange peel, white grape juice, bready yeastiness, dries out a touch in the finish with only a dash of bitterness, nothing special as the style goes, and a little sugary, but well done enough to be worth a try

d: a nice wit, wasn't sure what to expect from this relatively unknown brewery

pretty sure this single was sourced from Whole Foods, Raleigh

Nothing particularly fancy, a fine representation of the style.

Deep straw, very hazy with a thin, creamy head with excellent retention and lacing.

Aroma is citrus infused with a light spicy touch against a grainy background.

On the palate this is balanced and clean, a little husky and again lightly forward with the orange. Dry and wispy. Could use just a bit more substance and grain/wheat.

Body is nice, medium to light bodied with a nice creamy texture.

Would happily drink again, but I'd reach for, say, Allagash White over this.

A: Pours a hazy golden orange in color with some light to moderate amounts of visible carbonation, significant amounts of large off-white chunks of yeast, and some peach highlights. The beer has a finger tall off-white head that reduces to a medium sized patch of very thin film and a thin ring at the edges of the glass.

S: LIght aromas of fruity yeast along with light aromas of wheat. Even lighter hints of lemon citrus and just a hint of herbal hops.

T: Upfront there are light flavors of wheat and some grainy malts along with some hints of lemon citrus which intensifies as the beer warms up. Light hints of herbal hops which leaves no lingering bitterness.

M: On the lighter side of medium bodied with moderate to heavy amounts of carbonation. Crisp.

O: Pretty refreshing for a hot summer day and not unenjoyable though I'm not a huge fan of large amounts of visible chunky yeast sediment.

The beer pours a cloudy golden color with a thick frothy white head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is decent. It has a solid pale and wheat malt scent along with a mildly fruity yeast character. It doesn't have the traditional witbier yeast character, nor does it have the orange peel and coriander aroma. The taste is decent as well. It's incredibly tasty, yet lacking key witbier qualities, such as the coriander and bitter orange peel. It does have a pleasant yeast character, however and it's damn drinkable. The mouthfeel is good. It is a low/medium bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This is a highly drinkable wheat beer. It's not a witbier, but more along the lines of an American wheat. Still a quaffable summer brew.

A new offering from Boone Brewing Co. 12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours a very thick cloudy gold with a small white head capping it off. Left no lace or webbing. Scents of pineapple, hay, spices, and a little yeast.

The body is crisp at the onset but creamy smooth on the finish. Carbonation level is moderate. This is a bready, doughy beer for sure. Rather than a tart spicy fruitiness as the main player, the wheat really mellows this out and is king. Finish is mild. Bitterness is low. There's a bit of an acidic orange juice-like flavor noted, but it is fleeting.

This is a good beer. Might not be the best representation of the style, but it was refreshing as all get out. I could down several of these on a hot summer afternoon if I had to. Recommend.

Poured a very cloudy gold w/ good carbonation on top of a spicy, sour citric aroma along w/ pepper - pretty good wit aroma. Very good balance for wit as a fluffy, sweet, chewey body with citric hop notes underlie a sharp and spicy body. Great yeast twang and there is a residual sweetness from minor malts and fruits like banana (this beer isn't just sour lemon and orange). Well-balanced but lacks a defining finihs; nonetheless a real good wit.

I poured this beer into my tumbler at 45 degrees. The beer poured a cloudy yeast infection looking brew. The beer had a nice wite puffy head. The beer smelled citrusy tasted that way also. with a slight bitter finish. The head went away fast and the beer smelled bad. Still I liked the taste good enough to drink again.

Got this as an extra in a trade, sorry guys, I lost track of who sent me what extras at one point.

Poured a yellow/orange with a thick white head. Not much retention, no lacing.

Nose is rather weak. Not really picking up anything strong. Some subtle notes but nothing that is easy to distinguish.

Taste is typical to style. Belgian spice, banana, orange peel and coriander.

Nice, smooth mouthfeel.

I guess this sits in the middle between Allagash White and Blue Moon with me.

Pours a cloudy straw golden yellow with a finger white head, good retention and moderate lacing.

Aroma was weak with hints of wheaty malt and citrus.

Taste of citrus, wheat, coriander and yeast.

Mouth Feel was light leaning towards medium body with light carbonation and smooth drinking.

Overall a good witbier, refreshing, however, there are other witbiers I would choose before this one.
