Grabbed this one on a sunday drive to Soldotna.
This beer is raised in the air to my late friend Harley. A man who served his country proudly, and lived his life in the moment every day. This one is for you Harley. You will be dearly missed and I am honored to have known you.
Pours kristal clear yellow with a slight orange tint. A nice fizzy german style white head hangs around for longer than expected, but still dissipates fairly fast leaving next to no lace.
Nose is all banana and yeast (3068?). Some slight clove, but really mostly banana bubblegum action.
Taste is quite full of banana yeast flavor. Tons of hef characteristics here, but certainly smoother. The yeast and banana flavors are explosive here, and very admirable. Some slight clove, but not much relatively speaking. A nice dry finish. This is defenitely a fantastic sessionable brew.
Mouthfeel is slightly thick, but not anything significant. Carbonation is just right.
Drinkability gets very high marks here. An extremely tasty and sessionable beer that would be great for summer barbeques and picnics.
Overall this is a shining example of a Kristalweizen that certainly rivals that of Weihenstephaner. An excellent beer, great session beer, and tasty drink. So far I am greatly impressed with the beer from St. Elias Brewing in Soldotna, AK. I will soon be making another trip down to try some more samples and grab a few more growlers. Good to see more beer coming out of the penninsula. Hope to see these brews hitting anchorage taps soon! Good beer.
Goodbye Harley. Drive fast and take chances! Whoopee we're all gonna die!
