We amp up the alcohol and hops in this West Coast version of an IPA. One of our few brews we only hop with one variety, in this case Cascades. This Washington state hop imparts wonderful floral aroma made even more pronounced by dry hopping.

Drank like a lager. Pretty malty and heavy. Barely any hop flavor. Flat

Received a pint of brownish-orange brew. Barely a skim of a head. No lace, some haze.

Toasted malt, metallic notes, some resinous hop leaf aromas.

An odd one, as it got alot better as it warmed and as the pint opened up a bit. Cold out of the tap, it was a burnt bitter mess. Over-browned bread crust and aspirin bitterness. As it warmed, there was more bread and toasted grain with those other two flavors. Fruit really not found here, but there was some earth. It almost leans toward an old ale.

Brew was a bit watery and too still for my liking.

The fact that this evolved in the glass helps the overall rating. Not sure if I'd have this again, but it was still ok. Enough complexity to make it worth a try.

Had on tap at the Great Lost. This is a well rounded IPA, reminds me of DFH 60.
Golden amber more amber then golden with a great head formation
The nose is sweet and fruity hops with a citrus backing. The hop aroma is consistent through out very nice.
The taste matches the aroma. Hops are the dominate almost all the flavor. The hops are upfront sweet, juicy, and fruity a citrus taste finishes is all off.
The mouth is smooth with a building, but subtle carbonation.

Poured a medium copper hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was good retention and lacing.

The smell featured mainly grassy hops with a touch of citrus and moderately grainy malt.

The taste was likewise grassy and grainy with some sweetness and a bit of orangy hop.

The mouthfeel was typical for the style.

Overall a good, but non-disinctive IPA.

A: Poured with a small head that diminished quite quickly. Body is a dark copper color and very hazy. Thick sheets of lace left behind while drinking.

S: Quite a bland aroma of light malt and hops, but I really didn't get much from the smell at all.

T: This is an odd beer. There's a coffee-ish, burnt flavor, and the finish is not as hoppy as you would expect from the style. There's almost a smokiness bite to the finish, actually... it really is quite odd. Whatever it is, it doesn't make the beer undrinkable, but it doesn't really work either.

M: Medium-bodied and creamy, with average carbonation.

D: It's not terrible, but I really don't think I'd ever order it again.

Had this beer on tap at the Great Lost Bear in Portland, Maine. I've never heard of this one before so I HAD to try it. Beer poured a gorgeous brown amber color (kind of like a Bass), had a creamy one finger foam head. Smelled of faint breadiness, light hops, malts, faint fruitss, total lack of carbonation. With the first sip, picked up a faint bitterness on the tongue and a nice malt presence to balance things out. This beer is very well balanced and if I didn't know it was brewed in Maine, I swear it were English. Very well done, not my preference, but balanced and not overbearing. It seems to me to be a very good interpretation of an English Ale with a slight American twist. This would be a good session beer. Has a good mouthfeel - light on the tongue, light to medium texture, and might be a good beer to introduce the every day beer drinker to craft brews.
