Reviewed from my notes. This beer was on tap for a awhile at the Great Lost Bear. I ordered it on a whim and took a few notes at the end of a meal.

A: Opaque orange/copper. The server's pour left no room for a head, just a skim of white foam. As I drink it, a good foam lace coats the sides of the pint glass.

S: Grassy hops with a touch of malty sweetness.

T: Crisp and refreshing. Mild hop bitterness is grassy and fresh. I can taste a bit of orange peel in the mix. There is a peppery bite as I swallow.

M: Medium body and low carbonation. It's slightly watery, in that there is hardly any coat and its easy drinking.

O: A very good extra pale ale. It's not as hefty as the Alewife, but certainly bigger and better than most lawnmower beers. I could easily drink a number of these at the brewpub, or work on a growler at a summer cookout. I hope it sticks around for the summer.

Mini 32 oz growler poured into a pint glass. Good to take some beer back to the place while staying up here in Old Orchard for the weekend.

Appearance: This beer poured a one finger head that reduced to a thin layer. It is a pale yellow color with good clarity and bubbles coming up through the glass. Nice lacing on the glass as the beer was drank too.

Smell: Bready and light caramel malts followed by grassy and citrus hops.

Taste: Tingly hop bitterness, bready malts, light pale malts, citrus, grassy, and herbal hops.

Mouthfeel: Smooth, chewy, tingly, medium carbonation, medium bodied, and a little boozy.

Overall: Extra pale ale or imperial, still a delicious beer. An awesome place to visit along the river when visiting OOB. It would be nice to see more citrus or tropical hop characteristics, but I'm still happy with something different.

Stopped into the Run of the Mill on 09DEC11 with Alewife for lunch. Lead off with a 1/2-pint of the XPA ($2.75).

Served in a slender flute, it was a deep golden color with a touch of haze. A creamy white head crowned things, though it was short and mostly a rim-clinger. Very good lace was left behind, though. Aroma was inviting, with a good amount of rindy citrus present. As for mouthfeel, it had a medium body and a fairly smooth and even touch on the tongue.

This one had lots of bitterness, but in a pleasant way. Rindy and pithy, the grapefruit was there from start to finsih, with just a very light bit of malty sweetness evident. Solidly made and pleasing. Prosit!!

Poured on-tap and served in a pint glass, the beer is an amber-gold coloring that is slightly hazed, with a thin ring of film around the edge of the glass. The beer has a nose of green, fresh, wet hops with a very slight, sweet, citrus highlight. Flavors of oily, resinous, green hops hit the forward tongue and quickly spread over the entire palate, with a slight citrus backbone that is quite overpowered. The beer is creamy, but the carbonation keeps it crisp and light. The aftertaste is on the sweet side, and the beer clings to the glass while you drink it. Hoppy finish, with drying bitter aspects and a slight cloying that lingers past the hops. Good flavors, but the body is a little rough.

Poured inside at Saco brewpubs. Served in pint glass. A is cloudy and very unrefined. Orangy opaque. S is horrendous. Dirty dish rag feel. Maybe some old floral hops. Dirt. T is pretty darn good. Smooth hoppy finish with nice banana notes. M is gummy but ok. O it could be a really great beer but not well finished. Lack of attention to detail. Asked the bartender if keg is fresh, he said yes...
