Pours amber with a large, lasting head.
Nose shows lots of sweet, clean malt and floral fruity hops.
A fair whack of hops shows in the taste as well, with bold piney, resinous notes and hints of tropical fruit amongst the sweet malt. Finishes strongly with a audacious, slightly metallic bitterness.
Too much carbonation creates an overly dry finish.

Stunningly clear golden amber. Very healthy white head, leaves sparse lace spots. Looks solid.

Nose is very much on the sweet side. Citrus fruits, especially tangerine and candied lemon, and floral notes provide the hop presence, while caramel and nutty malts tie it together nicely. Just a touch of dull grain character.

Taste is malt-forward, with lots of light toffee malts initially. None of the citrus comes through, instead there's a sort of blunt minty earthiness, but no real evidence of the pine character you might expect. That's pretty much it.

Very refreshing, with well-hidden medium carbonation, mild bitterness and a nice cleansing effect thanks to the fresh mintiness.

Not a bad APA, it's just unfortunate that the taste fails to deliver the character in the nose.

Tasted at Hobart beerfest and was impressed. Bottle with bb date etched into the glass (nice touch) 09/12/12

Pours a deep golden with a hint of amber redness. Very clear. Medium carbonation. Thin white head.

Wow! This is made in Australia? Fantastic aroma. Citrus and pine in spades. A touch of malt sweetness in the background but the hops just dominating the aroma (and rightly so).

Taste is spot on. Well balanced between bitterness and light malt. Hops are a bit peppery and spicy without being too sharp. Bitterness finishes things up nicely.

Mouthfeel is weighted just right.

Drinkability? Can I give a 5.5? The focus of this beer is just right. Strong aroma. Hop bitternes and flavor toned down just a bit. Malt to support without being a distraction.

This pours a clear dark golden colour with a solid white head.

Nose is well balanced. Plenty of citrusy hops but the malts are still there. A bit of caramel. Something that I can only describe as spritzy though. A bit off putting.

The malt is the first thing that I got on the palate but it's quickly followed by a solid bitterness. Maybe too bitter for me. And without a lot of hop taste.

Medium to full bodied.

A nice enough APA but not something I'd seek out again except maybe on draught.

Was sent a bottle direct from the brewery for sampling.

Lovely golden/copper colour and medium high carbonation giving a dense rocky white to off white head. Brilliant clarity.

Aroma of citrusy american hops, with a touch of caramel and toffee in support. Very clean and no grassy element to the aroma. Very enjoyable.

Moderate hop flavour again supported by some caramel and very faint biscuit/toast overtones. Medium bitterness, that is delivered softly with a pleasant grapefruit and pine flavour. Balance is only just in favour of the hops.

Medium to dry body, with the carbonation leaving a clean finish on the palate.

A very gentle APA, that is more in keeping with how the sttyle should be, rather than a mini-IPA. Very enjoyable.

I will certainly seek this one out and drink again.

A: Pours a clear dark copper color with a nice head that fades to some lacing.

S: Aroma of pine, fruit and bit of malt sweetness.

T: Taste of pine, citrus, fruit and a trace of malt sweetness. Nice bitterness and a dry finish.

F: Medium body, crisp, smooth and refreshing. Very well balanced.

O: Enjoyable beer that goes down easy. Nothing fancy jus a very good beer.

On tap at the brewpub.
a) Hazy amber, off-white head that's almost nonexistent, thanks to bartenders pouring generosity.
s) Malt, pineapple, stonefruit. Fresh
f) As it smells, plus nuts, touch of spice. Good bitterness.
m&d) Well balanced, quite drinkable.
As with all 4 Pines ales, very expensive.
