I've been wanting to check this out, so the family and I went on Friday evening. I was a tad skeptical, due to this being a franchise.
Atmosphere was upscale casual, very clean. Did little to showcase that this was a "brewpub". It's def. a restaraunt first.
Service was great, very informative and prompt. I ordered the beer sampler and was greeted at the table by a manager, who was eager to explain each beer to me..
Although the beer wasnt outstanding, they were decent representations of the respected style. The northern lights lager was surprisingly good, and the bock was very solid.
I tried the bacon cheddar burger and the ale and cheese soup. THE best soup I have ever had. Was insanely good! The burger was good, loaded with shredded cheese. Everyone's portions were huge.
All in all, this was a very positive experience. A great place to get good food and decent beer, when you are in the mood for something a tad different. I highly reccomend.

I used t live here and would go for the food on occasion; which was quite good. They would have cheap pitchers during happy hour ($6, with half priced appetizers on days). There beers are not much to look forward too, but every appetizer or entree I have had there has been quite good. The food is a little pricey but very good. I would say it is definitely a restaurant before a bar as the quality/focus of food is much better the the quality/focus on beer. If looking for good eats go there, but if looking for good brew don't.

Location attached to a mall, first hint this is a bit of a comercial "brew pub". Reminds me a bit of Rock Bottom. Straight bar, mostly restaurant. Only gripe is that the television are way up the the vaulted ceiling, these things must be 15ft in the air. One really has to look up to the point of being uncomfortable. You can't take a drink and look a them at the same time.
They had a stout, bock, pale, lager and light(pils I guess). All brews session gravity. 6 dollar pitcher night, but not knowing what I was getting that seemed like a bit of a risk. Wanted something malty, got the bock and it delivered just fine.
2 bartenders did a good job and knew the beers, not that their was terribly much to know. If the food is good I would come here again for the restaurant, but not just for the brews.

So on a whim today I stopped over at Granite City with the girlfriend. Upon first walking in it looked like a higer class place and not much of a "brewpub" style brewery. Not a big deal at all to me. Getting their menu shows that they have a lot of items to pick off of to eat. I personally got the Blue Cheese Bacon Burger which was very filling and quite good. My girlfriend had a wrap that she enjoyed quite well. The food here was prepared fast and tasted good for the money although I was a little shocked at some of the prices for here. The worst part of this place for me was well the whole reason why I stopped there....the beer. Everything I had was very lackluster or else just plain garbage....when I rated the quality a 2 on here it was for the beer and not the entire experiance. The beers I did try were terrible in a watered down version of what the beer should be. I also have to complain about my waitress never really being at the table much and when she was there to take a order she was never the one who dropped off what we asked for. All in all the place is good to eat at but terrible for drinking at. I commented on the IPA and the Oktoberfest beers when asked about them....politely saying they were not very good and was told not many people like better beer when they first tasted it. Kind of turned off by that.

Food here is just amazing but I have to say that I wasn't really impressed with the beer. The Northern Light tasted a lot like Miller Light, which has a lot to be desired. The Bock was good, as well as the IPA. I highly recommend the Sunday brunch too.
They also have a "Mug Club" which gives you some good deals on food and beer. You can buy growlers there for about $25 and get them refilled for $5 on Tuesdays, not too bad.
All and all I like it a lot and can't wait for the tapping party on Dec. 1st to try their Scottish Ale.
