Godfather Lite Premium Quality Lager Beer pours a crystal-clear light golden chock full of bubbles that race quickly towards the top. The fizzy white head has more staying power than I expected.
Aromas of sweet grain are nothing special, but neither are they offensive.
A sweet malty front-end is quickly followed by a surprisingly nice bitter backbite which soon settles into a nice balance of hoppy bitterness and sweet malt. The mouthfeel felt too thin and watery at first, but eventually grew on me.
Like all Indian lagers, Godfather Lite is too sweet. But unlike most of its peers, it balances it sweetness with hoppy bitterness. Yes, I do believe this is hoppiest macro-brewed Indian beer I've had to date. If you're in Delhi and looking for something refreshing with a bit of character, pick up a pint.
UPDATE (23 November, 2012): Indian brewers add a starch- (corn/rice-) based sugar syrup to beers that acts as a preservative and sweetens their taste. To remove this syrup, one has only to upend a bottle of beer into a glass of water and wait for the sugar syrup to drip out. I recently did this with a 650 ml. (22 oz.) bottle of Godfather Lite, and found that it drastically improved the beer's taste. The bitterness mentioned in the review above was augmented, and the result was an even better-tasting, drier lager that will probably be my go-to beer in Delhi.

This is a toned down (alcohol) version of the Super Strong "Godfather". The beer pours deep golden with a thick but rapidly dissipating head. Smells of cheap grain and some yeast. Taste is slightly pleasant than what the smell offers - good malty backbone, sweet but without any trace of hops - slogan for the beer says "matured or lagered for 25 days"...don't know what that gives. Mouthfeel is tingy with a soda like feel because of above average carbonation. Yeah, frankly I could have a session with these if nothing else is available.
