Smell - when first poured all I got was earthy, floral hops. With a touch of citrus somewhere. As I kept sniffing I got some classic sweet malt toffee notes.
A- dark brown, burgundy up against the light. 1 finger head that gradually fades.
Taste- smooth malt, slight roastyness followed by a more robust coffee roast flavor. Some balance of earthy herbal hops.
Mouthfeel is great. Smooth, not much carb, which is good, lots of carb wouldn't be very "warming"
Good for a winter warmer. I could get next to the fire with this one

12 oz. bottle, with bottled on date September 16, 2013 printed on the label. Another new beer to me from Redhook. Expectations are about averaged based on the brewery and the style.
Poured into a Miller High Life pint glass.
A - Pours a ruddy mahogany-ruby colored body with about a finger and half of dense frothy off-white head. A bit of lacing when swirled, but none sticks to the glass. Looks alright for what it is.
S - Smell is pretty faint. Some amber / chocolate malt presence, a hint of oily pine hops, and virtually nothing else.
T - Taste follows the nose: amber / chocolate malt up front, some earthy tea leaf sweetness, a bit of piney hop bitterness in the middle, and some dark malt roast / coffee grounds on the finish.
M - Feel is crisp, clean, bitter, and slightly dry. Light and refreshing for being a 6.00% abv beer.
Overall, a fairly forgettable outing from Redhook, but it was about what I was expecting. Definitely not a very interesting beer, but drinkable and "safe" for those looking to expand their beer horizons. Glad to have tried it, but I wouldn't want this again.
Redhook Winter Hook ---3/5.
