Poured from the bottle, this beer is tan/red in color with a generally clear body and an interesting aroma. The nose combines fruit, malted barley, and yeast and it is enticing even if not very pronounced.
This is a good seasonal beer that offers a bready/malty flavor profile and a balance between sweet grains and earthy/bitter hops. Its flavor profile is not as complex as many other seasonals but still interesting enough to warrant an occasional drink.
I enjoy the flavors present in this beer, like the smoky malt and the combination of Eurpoean and North American hops. But this beer is a slight disappointment due to the lack of a full, rich body. I could taste just a touch of wateriness in the finish and while it didn't spoil the experience, it certainly lessened its value.
Redhook Late Autumn Harvest is a good beer that easily beats the majority of the mainstream beers. It isn't as tasty as it could be but it does satisfy generally and the price is right. In other words, it is very much like other Redhook products: Good, but certainly not good enough to set your taste buds on fire or to win any prestigious awards.
