Notes/Commercial Description:
This beer is retired; no longer brewed.

Czech out Redhook’s newest brew. Redhook Pilsner is crisp, golden lager that is modeled after those historic beers originally made in Plzeň, Czechoslovakia. Redhook Pilsner’s maltiness is offset by a medium dose of Saaz hops and finishes with a clean, bright, thirst-quenching quality. A great “session” lager for when you’ve got a long day ahead of drinking.

Having this one at my patio bar on a 80 plus degree June afternoon. Pours a clear golden with a nice white head. Good retention, and a nice lace. Aroma is grainy, with some floral notes.Body is a bit heavier than I like for this style, with a good amount of carbonation.Taste is of bread and butter up front, with a sweetness throughout. Not my favorite of this style, but worth a try.

Served with a fine white head and no lace. color was a clear gold amber. Aroma was hoppy, malty, and beery. Flavor was similar with hops coming out with some floral characteristics. Body was good but carbonation was a tad flat. Finsh was nice with hints of salt, acid, & bitterness. Could do worse.

A: Pours a bright, clear golden color with some visible carbonation. The fairly tall, foamy and frothy white head has decent retention and deposits a bit of lace on the glass.

S: Some grainy, crackery maltiness in the nose. Mild floral and herbal hop notes seem appropriate for the style. A faintly sulfuric/lager yeast note is also present.

T: Quite grainy and crackery up front, with a light sweetness. Hops step in midway through to rescue things and bring balance to this pilsner, with a measured, medium bitterness. Hop flavors are stylistically spot-on, with floral/herbal noble character. Lager yeast character is faintly present as well.

M: A bit fuller than medium bodied. The carbonation and hops contribute a generally dry mouthfeel, but it's not crisp in an especially refined fashion.

D: This does a good job as an American version of a to-style Czech pilsner. I wasn't a giant fan of the mouthfeel, but this is an above average beer across the board.

Had lunch at The Chataqua Pub today. This wasn't on tap, but I picked up a 6pack to bring home. An innocuous beer. Gold color with a small white head and a tiny bit of lacing. Faint fresh grass, citrus aroma. Lemon taste, hops at the end. While it had a crisp mouthfeel, I thought it was overly hopped. Lots of better pilsners to choose from.

A - pure, clean, clear, golden yellow; quarter of an inch of thick, white, foamy head; good retention

S - grass, straw, noble hops, faint pine, faint herbal hops, a bit of grains

T - straw, bitter, grassy, a bit of lemon

M - crisp, smooth, a bit overcarbonated, light to medium bodied

This is a drinkable, smooth beer that has decent flavor. The over carbonation takes away from the flavor. Still though it'd be easy to knock back a few of these. If you want something lighter bodied, light on the wallet, and sessionable then this is a good option.

Served on tap at the RH in Portsmouth NH.

Pours a clear light yellow foam with no lacing. Classic pulsy smell. Crisp, with subtle hop. Clean finish, with some closing bitter. Tasty.

Overall a good pils, not great, but a nice easy drinker with enough flavor to stay interested.

Pours crystal clear golden yellow color with a small foamy white head that was full of bubbles and faded fast; OK spotty lacing left behind.

Smells of sweet malt, wheat bread, grass, light floral hops and herbs; very clean and soft nose, on par for the style.

Tastes of sweet malt, wheat bread, grass, light caramel, lemon, grains, light floral hops and herbs; stronger flavor than the nose, with very sweet malt balanced out pretty well by the crisp leafy hops.

Mouthfeel is very light and crisp, with light/tight carbonation showing the bubbles racing up and a medium body. So light it's almost watery and yet goes down almost too easy. The medium body is heavier and maltier than expected, but it a good way.

Highly drinkable and quenching, just not as tasty as I had hoped it would be as it's on the basic side, but I guess that's the style. A great session or lawnmower beer. Overall a deviation from the traditional pils, but still tasty and easy to drink. The strong malt presence makes this sweet, but still a nice session beer. Good to very good overall.

Picked this one up as part of a mixed six pack, for no other reason than I liked the look of the new bottles. Poured a clear golden color with maybe an inch or so of white foam on top. Aromas of apricots, grassy hops and biscuit. On the palate, this one is light bodied and crisp, with flavors of grassy hops and light malt.

Bomber into standard pint.

A: perfectly clear straw color with a half inch of head that fell into a little cap with a pencil thin ring.

S: spicy noble hops and pale malt. Slightly sweet smelling. Hints of citrus.

T: a little floral, enticing herbal notes, a bit of malt to bring it all together. a crisp brew.

M: light and crisp with a bit of carbonation. not lying when they say it is refreshing.

O: not a bad brew. I am not a czech pilsner enthusiest but it is not bad based on my experience with the style.

Thanks to mar for sharing this bottle.

The beer pours a clear yellow color with a white head. The aroma is corn and wheat. Not too great. The flavor is very similar. The corn and wheat stand out and this tastes a whole lot like a macro lager. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Not something I would try again.
