Body pours golden yellow and with a tremendous haze. Aroma is rye-spicy, a kind of round fruitiness reminscent of oranges, apricots, and even just a hint of banana. Tastes dry and a shade bitter, with a crisp light palate. Hints of fruit in the taste too, along with a slight graininess. The description so far might not make this obvious, but the light crisp spiciness makes this been quite drinkable. I'd love to have a 6 pack at the beach. (442 characters)

poured golden with sediments floating in it,slight head, that left a trace all the way through.
smell:fruity,hints of rye
taste:a bit yeasty, with a nice little hint of the rye(I was hoping for more of the rye taste)
mouthfeel:watery, medium carbonation, felt as a wheat might.
drinkability: pretty good I suppose, similar to a wheat, but with that nice little hint of rye,not bad...but...not that great either. (414 characters)

Presentation: 12 oz. short twist with the Redhook logo wrapped around the neck. The label is forest green in colour stating "An ale brewed with flaked rye ... Unfiltered". On the side is a blurb about live yeast in the bottle and if you should decant the yeast or not ... personal preference. Bottled on date clearly marked.

Appearance: Cloudy golden in colour due to the yeast that was poured in also. This ale has a wonderful white froth that clings and retains very well.

Smell: A soft mix of grain, earth, malt, bread and yeast, complex yet appealing.

Taste: A semi coarse grainy rye emerges from fermented malt/wheat and nutty yeast flavours. Some mild fruit and esters are noticeable. An ample spicy bitterness catches up and make an appearance. Within all of this is a small punch of sweetness.

Notes: Far more enjoyable than the Hefe that Redhook produces probably the better of the group also. A bit of an acquired taste from the rye flavours, either you love it or hate it. Give it a try if you can find it. (1,029 characters)
