Availability: Summer

Notes/Commercial Description:
Redhook’s twist on the Belgian style is the addition of fresh ginger, which adds a refreshing snappiness to this lighter-bodied wheat beer. Redhook Wit is perfect for warm summer months of outdoor BBQ-ing, sitting by the pool, or just taking a break by hanging inside enjoying the AC and watching old re-runs of Gilligan’s Island.

look: 2.5 | smell: 3 | taste: 3.25 | feel: 3.25 | overall: 3

Appearance:
Pale gold, mostly transparent except for a bit of chill haze. No head to speak of whatsoever... I even poured hard to get something, but was unsuccessful. Practically no carbonation.. Did I get a bad bottle?

Aroma:
Light and crisp. A little on the sweet side. Ginger and a damp wheat character up front followed by orange peel. Faint coriander and yeast presence. No detectable hops.

Taste:
Light. Ginger is dominant and dances on your tongue. Simple malts provide a light nut character. Light spicing. Muted and rather boring.

Mouthfeel:
The ginger provides an interesting tingle, but isn't enough to redeem this. Ultra light body. Low levels of carbonation. Finish is semi-dry.

Overall:
Disappointing. I'll admit that I had high hopes after seeing the scores here.. unfortunately, this did nothing for me. It's light and very easy to drink, but lacks enough substance to recommend.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a cloudy golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell has some spices, a bit of citrus. Taste is wheat, spice, some citrus, a bit of ginger, refreshing . Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall would make a fine session beer.
