Notes/Commercial Description:
Redhook’s twist on the Belgian style is the addition of fresh ginger, which adds a refreshing snappiness to this lighter-bodied wheat beer. Redhook Wit is perfect for warm summer months of outdoor BBQ-ing, sitting by the pool, or just taking a break by hanging inside enjoying the AC and watching old re-runs of Gilligan’s Island.

I had a sample of this beer, and liked it, so I took a growler home. Another lesson that you need more than a sample size to adequately review a beer.
The beer was a hazy orange color with a small white head.
Kind of a fresh, outdoors aroma. A little bit of citrus. A minimalist aroma.
Wheaty taste, a little bit of lemon. Again, a very understated approach.
Just not that much to this beer. Yes, it was refreshing, but that was about it.

12oz brown bottle with a freshness date.

Opted to stir in the sediment as per the style, yields an opaque beige orange color with ample white head on top. From the crack of the cap to the pouring the smell of mild ginger hits the nose, further inspection unleashes orangey aromas, chalky yeast and some breadiness. Spicing is there, right at the edge with enough flavor to be known but no so much to become soapy. Dry maltiness is pleasant with a clean breadiness. Light hopping lets the spicing shine, ginger dances on the palate a bit more than most. Dry finish.

While this might not be at the top of its style for me personally it definitely is riding in the top half of the pack. The ginger won me over.

12 ounce bottle with brewed on date info on the label

Pours near clear, dull lighter almond amber. NO head, even with a vigorous pour...hmmm...not a good sign....so lace, no film , no nothing.

Slightest nose of some pumpkin sorta spice...meeh, still not very impressed with this one.

Taste consista of wheat malts, more light spice, cinnimon comes to mind. Very marginal wit. Best thing would be to consume on a ver hot day, or put it into a marinade for some chicken or pork. A lot better wit beers out there.

The beer pours a hazy straw color with a white head. The aroma has a lot of wheat and orange peel notes, with some ginger thrown in. The flavor is pretty much the same, with some grainy wheat notes being the dominant flavor. Light, watery mouthfeel and soft, medium carbonation. Overall, the beer is fairly flavorless and doesn't have anything that stands out and makes you want to have a second one.

Served on tap during brewery tour at the Portsmouth location.

Appearance: Golden and slightly cloudy. Decent head and head retention.

Smell: Citrus and wheat, but not overwhelming.

Mouthfeel/Taste: Smooth and light bodied. Taste of citrus and ginger with a bittersweet taste in the backround.

Overall: Good brew, I enjoyed this one and bought myself a bottle after the tour was over.

Appearance:
Pale gold, mostly transparent except for a bit of chill haze. No head to speak of whatsoever... I even poured hard to get something, but was unsuccessful. Practically no carbonation.. Did I get a bad bottle?

Aroma:
Light and crisp. A little on the sweet side. Ginger and a damp wheat character up front followed by orange peel. Faint coriander and yeast presence. No detectable hops.

Taste:
Light. Ginger is dominant and dances on your tongue. Simple malts provide a light nut character. Light spicing. Muted and rather boring.

Mouthfeel:
The ginger provides an interesting tingle, but isn't enough to redeem this. Ultra light body. Low levels of carbonation. Finish is semi-dry.

Overall:
Disappointing. I'll admit that I had high hopes after seeing the scores here.. unfortunately, this did nothing for me. It's light and very easy to drink, but lacks enough substance to recommend.

A - hazy yellow with a thin, fizzy, bubbly layer of white head that fades quickly

S - faintly spicy, warm, white grapes

T - faint banana, faint spice

M - fizzy, bubbly, a bit over carbonated, light bodied

This is a rather disappointing Witbier. It doesn't have great flavor and it's over carbonated. It's like and you can put them away but for any true fan of the style they should look elsewhere.

This cloudy pale amber ale pours with a minimal head and lace.

The aroma is malty and spicy.

Upon hitting the palate, this one hits sweet and candy-like, with a hint of ginger spicing it up. Nonetheless, I found this one to be overbearingly sweet, and tough to finish.

12oz bottle served in pint glass, cold. Bottled on June 15. Beer pours pale yellow with a medium thick white head. Beer is slightly hazy and full of big soda-like bubbles.

Aroma is sweet and of ginger and orange. Flavor is similar: big on ginger, coriander maybe coming in second. A little bit of sugar sweetness on the tip of the tongue towards the end, but also a cloying taste from the spices used. Still, more dry (yeast is present) than sweet overall.

Drinkable, but more of a gimmicky ginger-weiss than a Belgian Wit.

Poured a half finger of head on a cloudy, medium straw colored body.
The aroma is a dose of ginger with a little dry grain in the background.
The ginger really spices up the witbier nicely here. A little ginger with a mild bitter, rounded out by soft wheat taste.
The texture is softer with moderate carbonation.
I'm not a fan of witbier but I liked this.
