Served on tap in a pint glass.

Appearance: Brown color with a thin white head. Lacing on the glass.

Smell: Not much for any aromas. Very light malts.

Mouthfeel/Taste: Smooth medium bodied. Taste of light hops, malts, some wheat too.

Overall: Not too bad. Glad I tried it.

I tried this for the first time tonight at my local Buffalo Wild Wings. I normally drink darker beers, but I wanted to try something different, and the menu made it look good. It looked good in person, as well; clean, with a classic caramel coloring. Visually very appealing. I have seen a lot of reviewers say their beer didn't have any head; the head on mine was somewhat smaller, but noticeable and attractive. The beer didn't have any strong scent to it, but it tasted very good. It's an American pale ale, and a good representative of such: very clean, very hoppy, but not overwhelmingly so. It drinks smooth, with a slightly sweet finish. I thought it had a very nice mouthfeel; full, but not too thick, with a slight carbonation to it. It was highly enjoyable. I had a couple while waiting for my friends, and a couple more with my meal - pairs well with wings, which I guess is the idea that BWW is going for!

All in all, I'd say it's a very good beer. Not amazing, and probably not an actual game changer, but very tasty, and worth a try.

Buffalo Wild Wings is a personal favorite but I must admit that I had to laugh a little when they put a flyer in front of me that stated Red Hook had created a craft beer especially for them or at least buffalo wings. After drinking a couple I will further add that this is really good.

The color was rich amber with a thick almost meringue like head. The head was so fluffy and light that I had to fight through it to get to the beer.

The scent was malty, caramel malts and barley. Smooth semi-sweet and a touch bitter you can catch some hop aroma.

The taste is of strong caramel malts, barley, grains and an end of earthy, piney hops. Not necessarily sugary it is lightly sweet with some roasted textures. Very smooth and it has a nice balanced carbonation.

This is a nice surprise as it was appropriate for the food but offered a tasty craft beer experience.

Not sure how much this brew actually changes the game, but for an ale it was pretty darn good. I liked the burnt caramel color with good lacing down the glass. I wasn't to keen on the smell or lack thereof - simply unimpressed. I was very happy with the taste of this ale - smooth, not bitter like ales trying to disguise themselves as IPAs. I felt it was definitely above average, and something Redhook should be proud of.

On-tap 6/28/2014 at Buffalo Wild Wings, in Warwick, RI served in a weizen glass.

A: The beer is a deep golden brown color, with a large off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains caramelized malts, some hops and some fruit.

T: The taste starts out bready with a hearty malt character up front. Then some mild sweetness comes in from flavors of caramel and citrus. The hops presence is mild but brings a good balance. The after-taste is slightly bready.

M: Crisp and a little smooth but a bit watery, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is clean.

O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, mild kick, decent representation of style, there are better beers in the style but it’s good enough to drink for a while.

Had at Buffalo Wild Wings. I agree with the other reviews; the flavor and smell doesn't match the color but isn't unpleasant to drink. Ever so slightly on the hoppy side.

I had this at Buffalo Wild Wings on 6/1/15. I was told this was an amber. It smelled, looked, and tasted like one. I don't think this is an APA at all.

It was tasty. Caramel and roasted malts, slight citrus and spice, with a sharp pinch of hop. It went down easy. Especially good with boneless wings.

I'd have it on tap again.

Very mild and bland. I would have guessed it was a macro lager it was so underwhelming.

Pours a light copper color with a dense, soapy white head. There is above average retention and the tall brew laces the glass well. Light grainy aroma but not much on the nose. In the taste, a lightly hoppy, very agreeable pale ale. The main player here is a crackery, bready malt character. There is a sturdy balancing bitterness and a small leafy, almost vegetal hop flavor. Light to medium bodied, smooth more than crisp, and refreshing if nothing else. Overall, this is a drinkable accessible ale from Red Hook. Enjoyed at the Robinson, PA location Buffalo Wild Wings.

A: A cloudy amber color with a little bit of transparency, a nice finger of off white head at the top that leaves just a little bit of lacing around the glass.

S:A little sweet and a little roasty, the malts are present and a little hint of caramel as well.

T:Up front strong taste of biscuit and caramel, with a good roast from the malts, slight notes of fresh hops.

M: Light bodied, just a little bit of carbonation and a bit sticky as well.

O: Overall a good beer to have with wings, refreshing but not out of this world like other craft beers but pleasant.

On-tap at the local Buffalo Wild Wings. This pours a dark amber color with a slight off-white head. The aroma is slightly malty and sweet. The texture is fairly thin and watery. Average at best in the taste department with weak malt flavors. Could use some work as I was expecting much better!

24 oz from BWW. Caramel and gold with slight carbonation. Sweet hoppy and citrus smell. Taste is a little too pale for me but I don't like Ales that much so if you do this is a quality beer.

Good "starter" beer. If it gets people to stop drinking Bud Light, I'm all for it.

Excellent look, the feel and nose were rather shallow for the color. Taste was good. Very straight forward APA. No negatives just doesn't have the depth of flavor that others have.

On tap at Buffalo Wild Wings in San Bernardino, CA.

Pours a hazy orange-brown with a foamy khaki head that settles to a film on top of the beer. A foamy curtain of lace coats the glass on the drink down. Smell is of toasted malt, caramel, and biscuit aromas. Taste is much the same with sweet malt and caramel flavors on the finish. There is a very mild amount of toast bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is an average beer that is sweet and malty and not very much like a pale ale in my opinion.

I had this on tap at Buffalo Wild wings in Colonial Park -Harrisburg PA, enjoyed chilled in a large wheat glass. It is described as an amber ale on the menu.

The color is light amber with great clarity and thick white cap with lace that rings the glass. The smell is slightly malt oriented with slight caramel essence and gentle citrus aroma from the hops. The feel is good with moderately full and balanced body with hops and sweetness in tandem with moderately high carbonation and semi-dry finish.

The flavor has a mildly lemony taste with some light caramel from the malt to bolster the flavor with some light yeast taste with bready malt juxtapostion and slight sweetness mid palate. The smooth bitterness arrives later with mild hop in the background into the finish w/ mildly herbal element and clean carbonated dry finish. Overall this is not wonderful or groundbreaking, but it is a pretty solid beer with good flavor when paired with wings which is what this was designed for. It is is just a little better than average compared to most in the style, but is fairly drinkable.

Resiny piney bitter backbone that seems almost harsh on its own, luckily we were sold it as a chaser to a Bloody Mary at a Buffallo Wild Wings. Not a great pale ale but very signature in its flavor. Malty, bready, with almost a British tasting strain of yeast. Wanting to try again!

Had this on tap at Buffalo Wild Wings. This is a pretty medium quality beer. It has notes of citrus and hops, kind of like a realllllllllllly mild and light IPA. It's definitely sessionable and easy drinking, easy to pair with food as well. Wouldn't seek this out, but it's a decent beer to order, one of the better of BWW's selection.

Like most, i had this on tap at buffalo wild wings. Wasnt my first choice but they were sold out of my first. Anyways, this beer was lifeless. Like absolutely no flavor. If it didnt have the amber color, i would have thought it was a tonic water. The only flavor i picked up on was a minor lemon note, and some wheat. It was like a domestic light beer.

Seems like they achieved what they wanted in the fact, it is very easy to drink (several) while sitting at a restaurant and eating spicy wings like i did tonight. this is the only reason i didnt just give it 1 star.

From notes on 12/14/13

Mild smell. Not much different than a bud. Looks more like a lager than a pale ale. Not a bad tasting beer though slightly bitter. Good for the masses. Not really a beer geeks brew. Had it at Buffalo Wild Wings on draft.

Not much on smell with this beer. Amber/caramel color with almost no head. Decent taste though thats the only real redeeming quality of it. An average beer and decent for a sit down dinner.
