Pours a rich, opaque dark chocolate brown with a fine-bubbled tan head. Aroma has notes of chocolate, roast malt, pumpkin, and quality coffee. Flavor does not disappoint, providing nice coffee, chocolate and spiced pumpkin notes with a smoky hint. Texture is firm, smooth and rather fizzy. Porter that pumpkin, and happy wherever holiday you celebrate!

It needs more pumpkin, Jack! This sounds so good on the bottle but it's lacking in the pumpkin department in both the nose and taste. Warm the flavors become more pronounced, definitely get the nutmeg and maple and some pumpkin. Cold, good luck getting more than a slightly sweet light porter. Overall, despite not living up to the description it's still quite drinkable. Not something I'd see myself buying maybe, but love to see at a fall party.

Poured from a twelve ounce bottle into a snifter.

Pitch black in color with a cream-colored head that's considerably sparse---maybe a sixteenth of an inch of head. Lac is present but again, not entirely abundant.

The smell is immediately pumpkin, then spice, hints of bubblegum, and some chocolate. These all transfer over to the taste, but other flavors emerge as well, particularly nutmeg and coffee.

The beer has some bite to it because of the spices and is quaffable. There's something about the beer that I enjoy but I can't quite place my finger on what. It's a good beer ultimately, something I'd give a run next fall as well.

Appearance:
Incredibly dark brown in color - reminds me of tar and allows next to no light to pass through. A soft, tan head keeps the beer from escaping, leaving trace lacing.

Aroma:
Nice layers of cinnamon and molasses are the most dominant while maple is noticable towards the end of the nose. Welcoming aroma at first... After a while black licorice started bleeding through... and I'm not a fan of that character.

Taste:
Roasted grains are quite prevelant here, as is the unfortunate taste of black licorice. Molasses and pecans are noticable. A very bitter, roasted coffee is also detectable. All of this flavors cannot distract you from the black licorice however.

Mouthfeel:
Surprisingly light body for a porter and very uneventful in the carbonation department (practically flat). Refreshing if you can look past its flaws.

Overall:
I was dissappointed with this one, once I noticed the black licorice, it was incredibly hard to notice much else. I applaud Redhooks approach, but I can't recommend it.

Poured minimal head on a dark brown body.
The aroma is pumpkin spice, cinnamon and roasted malt. It smells just like pumpkin pie.
The taste is shallow. A little pumpkin, lemon bitter and a touch of roasted malt.
The texture is crisp with moderate carbonation.
The taste was too mild, not really a porter or a pumpkin beer.

A- pours dark brown-nearly black color with a creamy light-tan head that retains long after the pour, coating the side of the glass. Awesome looking beer

S- raw pumpkin with notes of cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger. There's a nice roasty/grainy malt with a touch of chocolate in the background

T- nice blend of pumpkin spices up front; cinnamon, clove, nutmeg and ginger. slightly sweet mid-palate, perhaps from the maple syrup used, smoky chocolate with a hint of coffee on a dry finish

M- medium body with a creamy mouthfeel produced from an everlasting head, moderate carbonation leads to a smooth and creamy finish

O- the base porter is solid within itself with nice chocolate and smoked malt flavors, the pumpkin spices add another demension and the two balance each other very well. The creamy head is still standing after drinking 3/4 of the beer. Overall very good and one that I'll be going back to this fall. Pumpkin porters should be produced by breweries more often

12oz. Nearly black brown pour, just a few wisps of off white. Cola like but much thicker appearing.

Aroma, some earthy pumpkin and allspice. Some roast malt and cocoa beneath.

Taste, Some sweeter chocolate and all spice again up front. Bready malt, which I would say has a squash component to it. Toasted malt and dark chocolate. Just a little herbal bitterness. A chocolate covered nuttiness lingers nicely.

Maybe medium bodied, carbonation is pretty lively. Drinks pretty easy. About as 50/50 mix between pumpkin ale and porter as you could get. Certainly worth a try at the price point.

Pours out a deep ruby, almost black. Head is a light khaki. Smells of pumpkin pie spice, anise, and roasted malts. Flavor is light on the pie spice. Burnt, ashy grain and anise stand out above all else. I don't pick up much pumpkin or maple syrup. Mouthfeel is fairly smooth and medium bodied. Too much anise for me. Not sure if it was actually used, or if it's just what I'm perceiving.

From the 12 fl. oz stubby bottle marked 11:08-Aug 01 13. Sampled on September 6, 2013.

I enjoyed how it looked quite a lot. It was a chestnut brown pour with ruby red hues throughout and a silky beige head that stuck around.

The aroma has a nice dose of pumpkin spice, cinnamon, and maple syrup with more muted earthy hops and coffee.

The body was quite thin however and was a lot like water.

The taste improved with each sip with forward pumpkin spices and sweetness to start eventually giving a little room for the coffee notes to sneak in for a bite. Not bad.
