Custom Home Pubs is a really cool place. They pretty much do anything that has to do with beer (Kegs, draft beer equipment, kegerators, bottles and they have taps) When I finally have the money to spend on a kegerator ill be able to do much more than just stare at the awesome keg selection they have, but for now it's still an awesome hidden treasure to drink a few beers. The atmosphere is much like you would find in your living room, and is rarely crowded. they have 7 or 8 taps which usually feature better beer than you'll find anywhere else close-by. I will warn you though, apparently until they upgrade some costly equipment the ABC will only let them pour in plastic cups. So if you're a snob who takes his beer more seriously than its meant to be taken like that Steve guy below me (the only guy to rate this place below a 4.5) Then the drafts may not be for you. (luckily they have a great bottle selection too) Personally, I'll take my high gravity offerings in a 16oz cup as opposed to 8oz at the same price any day! The experience is always great, even if i come alone. These guys are very engaging and actually like to listen to me blabber on about beer! I'd recommend this place to anyone

I have been here more than once before Sankeys opened up next door. Both times there was a younger guy working at the register while I sat at the bar. I sat down and waited for at least 15 mins before he came over to ask if I wanted a beer. To me that was probably the most stupid question you could ask somebody sitting at the bar. Same thing happened when I wanted a second beer. Oh yea, the owner was sitting his fat ass on the couch playing on his phone the whole time this went on. The second time I was there the beers were served in red solo cups, this is a no no in the craft community and they charged full price for them, at least knock a $1 off. And again horrible service.

I stopped by while in the area to see what they had while my wife was looking at some furniture. I was amazed that not only did they have the home pub business, but equipment and ingredients for home-brewing, a bar in the back for sampling some local craft brews, and even some bottles from local craft brew houses to take home. The prices are extremely reasonable. He even let my daughter play with the different tappulls. Great place. I will be buying my homebrew ingredients from here instead of going all the way to Alternative Beverage.

Finally made it out this way to check the new place out. It's a neat place with tons of home draft supplies and what looked like a nice homebrew selection. Nice seating area with some small couches and a small bar top. 1 TV, tons of beer/brewing literature on a coffee table.

Maybe there were 8 drafts. Nice micro selections. Small but nicely varied selection of cold bottles. Had some interesting things I hadn't seen in a while, in a good way though. Maybe the turnover is not quite as high here. Discount on make your own six packs, bombers count as 2. SOMETHING ALL PLACES SHOULD DO, since every fricking brewery needs to soak us with the bomber prices.

Worker was very friendly and knowledgeable. An interesting place, just way out of my way for normal visits.

I just tried out Custom Home Pubs for the first time and was very impressed. The concept is just awesome and the environment is very welcoming and comfortable. It's like enjoying a beer in your own living room. I was very pleased with the customer service, these guys have a wealth of knowledge when it comes to beer and they seemed to really enjoy conversing and taking time with their customers.

The store has a wide selection of kegs and it seems that they have the ability to provide you with just about anything in a keg. They have a nice selection of bottled brews in the fridge, cold and ready to enjoy. They also had about 10 brews on tap at the bar, all great selections. The Green Man IPA that I had when I stopped by was really good. They've also got a nice variety of homebrew supplies and recipes in stock. It sounds like they have some homebrew classes coming up as well.

I highly recommend this place to anyone that appreciates a good beer. I'm planning on making many more trips in the near future and look forward to getting in on one of their homebrew sessions!

Visited the new store and found a nice small selection of some very cool craft beers. Plus, a nice selection of equipment to get into homebrewing. This is the place I tell people about when they ask where to get homebrew equipment. Sales guy seemed friendly and welcome to talking about beers, taps, equip, etc.

Also, they have rent a kegerator - delivered, setup, 3-day rental, take away for $75. Great deal !

Plus, they have the kit needed for anyone interested in getting a Guiness keg correctly set up with Nitrogen Regulator. (about $300)

This place rocks. From the old store to the new one. Geoff and Jake are both top notch.

The environment really is all about a custom home pub. Great service and the best quality. Not really any food but thats alright. Great prices.

The only downer is that the selection can be limited but what you do find is sure to be tasty. I think the difficult part for them must be that the kegs all go to peoples houses for the most part and the breweries give stipulations on the higher profile beers that dont allow that.

Overall really great though.

I never made it to the South Park location, but was happy to hear a place was coming to Matthews that had some good draft beer.

Geoff has a nice place with 8 taps that always have good beer and the prices are great, most of the time 4-5 of the taps are $2.50! Luckly I got on their email list and made it to my first event they hosted at the store. It was the Olde Hickory tasting, $10 for all you wanted to drink and the selection included Black Raven IPA, Hickory Stick Stout Pale Ale, and a Cask of Death By Hops! Yea...$10 for all you wanted.

They have a good bottle selection, home brew supplies, glassware, and of course kegs and supplies.

If your in the Charlotte-Metro area check CHP out.

No one has reviewed these guys since they moved to their Matthews location:
11416 E. Independence Blvd,
Suite K
Matthews, NC 28105

That having been said, they are certainly due for an update. The new location has all of the same elements from the previous one, however, the space itself is a major upgrade for several reasons. 1) They are now at ground level, meaning that you don't have to haul your keg down stairs. 2) The space is larger with a nice bar space in the back which makes it a really great option for stopping in for a draft beer. 3) The new location is right off of I-485, making pickup and delivery easier for the city as a whole. 4) You can actually find the place without having to go on a scavenger hunt through South Park.

Despite the fact that their number one business is keg sales (which they do a phenomenal job of) this has long been one of my favorite places to hang out and grab a drink. The draft prices are beyond reasonable with most pours going for $2.50 and higher gravity offerings going for $4-5.

Geoff and Jake are great people. They work hard, know beer, and are really great to hang out with. They also consistantly have tastings and other events at CHP in order to promote craft beer.

The new location is really nice, sporting the familiar TV and couches from the previous location while adding more space that increases comfort and makes it easier to get kegs in and out. If you haven't gotten to check these guys out in Matthews, you owe it to yourself to do so. This is one of the hidden gems of the Charlotte craft beer scene.

So i have been in this store about 5 times, The first four times i have been there, i never bought anything.. Just came there to browse, compare prices and talk beer.. The reason being is that i live behind this place.. Sometimes a BA just needs to gloat or gain some beer knowledge : )
So finally yesterday (7/19), I'm ready to buy my first keg after about three months of browsing.. I have been to Total Wine (Park Rd and Woodlawn), Brawleys and then Custom Home Pubs.. I had no idea what i really wanted but knew if i could look at a detailed lengthy keg list, I could make a decision.
And only custom homes pubs had that list..

So i browse through this keg book for about 10 minutes and spot something I am really interested in, Foothills Seeing Double IPA.. I ask Jake about it. He calls tryon distribution the next minute to see if its in and tells me its there and could be here in one to two days.. sweet!

The next day (7/20) i come in to there store and my keg is waiting for me.. I pay and take it home.. so this keg is the first one ever I have tapped on my new kegerator.. I try out my co2 but its leaking and I try to fit the keg into my fridge but it doesn't fit with the tap on it (Foothills uses Pin lock corny kegs made into sanke d taps for their sixtels, so they are taller then usual).. I drive back to CHP and Jake tightens up all my equipment and hooks a angle coupler to the sanke and everything works perfect.. Great Customer Service even though i bought my equipment from another vendor!
I owe Jake a beer, Im thinking a BCS and share BCBCS 22oz with him..
