12.7 fl oz brown glass bottle served into a nonic pint glass in high altitude Castle Rock Colorado. Reviewed live. This was part of a horizontal with the brandy barrel aged.
A: Pours a half finger head of light cream, decent thickness, and bad retention. Colour is a very dark caramel-black.
Sm: Nicely oaky. Some grape and caramel as well. Not as much yeast as the Brandy barrel. A bit of raisin.
T: Oak, bourbon, grape, and raisin. Rich and complex, without the sweetness of the brandy barrel aged. The yeast is lighter than in the brandy barrel. Layered and wonderful.
Mf: Smooth, wet, and fragile. Suits the flavours quite well. I dig it.
Dr: Highly drinkable. I'd definitely have it again. Probably best bottle conditioned and aged.
Serving type: bottle
