poured into a wine glass

A- Pours a nice bright golden hue. A little head develops but fades quickly.

S- A sweet hay, some citrus, very light pepper/ spice. kinda light.

T- Quite light. Similar to smell but notes are fainter. The hay and citrus most prominent. Simple.

M- Very light, almost no body. Kinda watery, nothing lingers. Kinda poor after taste.

O- A decent brew. Nothing special. I would have expected more from Lost Abbey.

poured cloudy straw with thick white head. Good retention, and mild carbonation

Aroma: wheat and citrus

taste: sweet with lemony wheat character. Minimal hops.

mouthfeel: sticky with a bit of tingly

overall: pretty tasty, but sweet and bit thick (cloying). could stand to be dryer.

Poured from the bottle into a Hoegaarden glass.

An absolutely crystal clear golden brass yellow and lemon body. Noticeable numerous but not dominant carbonation rising through. Head is classic witbier fluffy white and soapy, but with good three fingers tall and staying power. Real nice looker, bright, clear probably the best looking witbier I've seen.

Great nose to match so far. Huge floral notes and sweet perfume. Lavender. Grape penny store candy also, but nothing overbearing. The drink screams of purple in the fact if I could put that into words.

Taste matches a little more toned down than the nose hints at, but it's subtlety makes for easier drinking. Light bodied sugared grape and floral mid palate. Some nice crispness with toned down sucrose Belgian quality. Wine like floral notes and a subtle sugar perfume component that matches nicely with lavender, white grape, accents, and spicy almost peppery finish too.

This is a real interesting take on a witbier and a real enjoyable one. Can't say I've had one like this before it might be a new favorite of mine for sure.

Look: Large fizzy, big bubbles white head, very fast retention, mostly diminishing. Leaves a very thin thick layer for the whole ride. Color is cloudy - darker straw yellow - wheat! what a surprise. Some carbonation visible.

Smell: Wheat, yeast, spicy - peppers, cloves. Hint of banana and some honey. All light, goes with the style I guess. Comes off as fresh and easy going.

Taste: A bit more honey to detect. There is some grapefruit, lemon zest. This goes to light sweet wheat middle, banana, yeast and ends in light bitterness and sour with spicy/earthy honey notes. Some hop to detect. Everything is very gentle.

Mouthfeel: No surprises here too, fresh, crisp carbonation, light-med body, very drinkable, goes down easy.

Overall: Typical witbier, does down like nothing and not too much taste to stop you from drinking it like a mad man. Easy, gentle, fresh, simple but enjoyable.

Lost Abbey Witch's Wit

Appearance: clear straw yellow, good lacing, and a medium head.

Smell: yeast, apples, and a slightly malty grain.

Taste: fresh fruit, light hop, some grain, and a touch of yeast.

Mouthfeel: medium-light and smooth.

Overall:
This is a pretty good brew. While it is somewhat lighter, the flavor is full and smooth without being watery. There is a touch of bitterness in the finish.
