Beer #1000 for me. Poured from a 750 mL bottle into an enlarged snifter. 2013 version.

Appearance: Pours a medium orange-amber (opaque) and gives a finger or two of white, fizzy head that doesn't last long and leaves a white layer atop the beer when it's done. (4.6)

Smell: Ripe oranges, lemon rinds, lemony malts, floral apple blossoms, green apple, nice barnyard funk, a bit of vinegar. Clear big wine influence in the aroma. Big citrus with just a bit of nice funk. (4.8)

Taste: Perfumey grapes, ripe oranges, sour green apple, sour lemon/lime, peach, some grassy funk. Finishes a bit sour with lime and green apple. Everything is integrated insanely well, and that opening note of flavor is just spectacular. Fairly acidic but the flavor is wonderful. (4.9)

Mouth-feel: Medium carbonation with a slick, medium, creamy body. Just a tad dry - really nice. Long finish. (4.75)

Overall: Really well balanced, absolutely delicious gueuze-style beer here. The wine barrels come out nice and strong but do not dominate. Well integrated flavors with a nice slightly dry mouthfeel. A wonderful beer here. (4.9)

2013 B2 Bottle shared with my buddy David after passing the Series 7.

Pours a bright golden-orange yellow color that looks so appetizing. Decent white foam hear that lasts a bit then recedes back into the glass

Smell - hints of straw, hay, grape vinous smells followed by the slightest note of red wine barrel character that gives it a dry tart funk smell

Taste - White grape, Lemon, yeast, straw, funk, tartness that is slight at the front with an amazing finish and as it warmed the red wine barrel character really shined.

Mouthfeel - Dry medium bodied and extremely crisp. Very well done

Overall - Fantastic beer from Lost Abbey and I am so glad I was able to track this one down. Well worth the wait and definitely one of my long time wants.
