12.7oz bottle poured into a pint glass, vintage 2013 "P" or "B" I can't tell
A: Pitch black but zero head whatsoever
S: Figs, plums, black licorice, a bit of bourbon
T: Bold, smooth with notes of dates, brown sugar, spice, hints of caramel, bourbon and candied cherry; the alcohol is surprisingly well hidden given its abv
M: Full-bodied, a bit viscous but smooth as can be; light carbonation
O: Well made and enjoyable to drink, though a bit pricey given what else I can get for far less. Worth a try though for sure

A - Very dark brown, almost black with a short tan head that disappeared quickly.

S - Very nice aroma of chocolate, caramel, licorice, toasted almond from the barrel, bourbon and brandy. The aroma evolved nicely as I sipped it.

T - The flavor is like the aroma. It's quite boozy, but very smooth at 12.5%. Hops don't play much of a role here. This is a big malty beer.

M - Oily and full bodied with low carbonation. I like bubbles, but didn't really miss them here.

O - A very pleasant, malty boozy, barrel aged sipping beer with a premium price tag of $16 / 12oz. and it's *almost* worth the price of admission. Much better than Angel's Share and similarly priced. If I drank two of these, I'd increase my rating.

On tap at fresh craft in denver 3/1/13

A: murky dark brown with sticky lacing. Long lasting tan head. Looks like used engine oil

S: a mix of barrel aged spirits. Super boozy. Bourbon, brandy, rum, scotch, you name it, they're all here. Some roast and chocolate come out as it warms

T: more booze up front. I'm tempted to add an ice cube it's so much like scotch. It's oily and thicker, but really boozy. Lots of caramel sweetness comes out too. It also has a ton of honey and figs. That flavor seems to always come out in aged, slightly oxidized strong ales. The booze is slightly overpowering for me.

M: thick, oily, coating. Lots of residual sugar here.

O: I love both beers individually, but this is a bourbon bomb. A little less alcohol and barrel character would bring this one in my own personal tolerance. Glad to try it, but once is prob. Good.

"Vintage 2011B" on the neck

Opens with a weak cork pop. Pours with no head and an oily sheen. Lots of roast in the aroma and light bourbon. Brandy takes over in the taste with grape notes combined with chocolate. Very boozy and moderately harsh alcohol. Balanced body with minimal carbonation. It's nice to have finally ticked this, but there's no way I'd pay $18 for it again.

On tap at Beer Authority.

A - Served a very dark brown with a few dark tan bubbles clinging to the edges. A few streaks of lacing form.

S - Bourbon, oak, chocolate.

T - Strong bourbon and sweet dark chocolate. Some nice barrel characteristics. A little toasted-burnt-bitterness in the finish.

D - Heavy body with medium carbonation.

O - Nice bourbon barrel stout. Drinks very easy for 12.5%
