Notes/Commercial Description:
This beer is retired; no longer brewed.

Formerly known as "Vern". Reviews from 2011 are for the initial pilot batch (Vern) of what would become Track 11 the next year.

A experimental re-mix track, Track 12 is our Angel’s Share that we aged in fresh Heaven Hill Bourbon barrels for 9 months. To this we added some awesome whole peach slivers, black tea, and a splash of Brettanomyces Clausenni to ferment the peaches. The beer has a great peach nose and a long carmelized bourbon finish. One of the most experimental of all the track series beers.

Opens with minimal pop and pours out murky and flat, a very unappealing looking beer. Lots of buttery bourbon in the nose, with a funky decaying vegetable aspect hiding under that. I'm not sure if that's coming from the tea or something else. The beer is fairly sweet with medium bourbon character and mild flavors of overripe peach, and a slight sour note. Minimal carbonation, and a medium-heavy mouthfeel. Something of a mess of a beer.

375 mL bottle poured into a snifter. Reviewed from notes.

Appearance - Brown body with the slightest hint of life. A few wisps and a thin collar.

Smell - Bourbon. Caramel. Fruity, not what I'd call peach though. Raisins. Tea, if I really think about it.

Taste - Much fruitier. Stone fruits very strong. Fruity caramel flavor that lingers. Very sweet finish.

Mouthfeel - Sugary and kinda tough to drink. Medium carbonation.

Overall - Not impressive. Very sweet.

A - Brown with maroon accents in a thick and hazy body

S - Nice bourbon notes, light oak, and slight peach sweetness

T - Heavy spice fro the HH bourbon, nice sweetness from the peaches, dark fruit and an oak presence from the barrels. There is also a sweet vanilla that adds a nice layer of complexity and sweetness to it

M - Medium syrupy body with spiciness near the back end

O - The second barreling of the Angel's share adds a lot of bourbon and spice to the beer. The peaches add a nice sweetness to it. Definitely a new layer of complexity to the angels share that I enjoy.

Nearing the end here. Yet another Lost Abbey tick shared by Todd.

A - Minimal white foam settles to a thin partial cap. Murky and turbid brown body.

S - An odd mix of bourbon and black tea, with only a hint of peach. This is the Angel's Share base, you say? Astringent, and quite strange. Sweetness comes a bit out more as it warms up.

T - The taste is significantly better, with more sweet caramel malts from the base beer and less tea. Peaches come through a little more, and there's mild tropical brightness imparted by the brett. Still, largely caramel, oaky vanilla, brown sugar, and so forth here. Alcohol is well-hidden, which is nice.

M - Surprisingly thin, especially when compared directly to Bourbon Angel's Share. Lower carbonation, surprisingly smooth texture, with less tannins than I expected from fruit, tea, oak, and so forth. Again, well-hidden booze.

D - The smell was very strange, and a tad off-putting, but otherwise I enjoyed this for the most part. The tea seems a bit unnecessary.
