A - Uncorking the bottle leads to a loud POP! Luckily, it didn't lead to a mess. Pours an opaque black hue, with a persisting single-finger tan head. Lacing is excellent.
S - Smell is of dates, figs, plus/other dark fruits, Belgian yeast/candi sugar, and spices (cinnamon is most noticeable).
T - Taste is of a thick, malt-forward profile. Lots of complex dark fruit flavors, with hints of cocoa. Aggressive yeast and candi sugar is present. The spices are most noticeable in the finish, with the cinnamon being most dominant, and the chiles offering a unique flavor, without making it too hot or spicy. Very nice twist on this style!
M - Full bodied beer, with slightly above average carbonation for the style. This is a sipper for sure, but appropriately so with the flavors going on here.
O - I seem to like this one more than some of the others on here. Maybe it's been too long since I've had a good BSDA, or maybe I'm so hooked on spicy food that the slight kick in this beer makes me love it more. Either way, this was obviously a limited release we will probably not see again. So - I will savor every last sip of this one, and try to find the regular Judgement Day in the near future! But if you come across this version, don't pass it up.

Bottle
A: Moderate caramel malts, light candied sugar, dark fruits, dark chocolate, faint orange peel and spices.
A:Dark brown color with a ruby hue opaque, with a thinnish off white head that quickly recedes into the glass.
T: Moderate caramel, with light roast, dark fruit esters, brown sugar, orange peel, with a faint oxidation, spice through the finish.
M: Full bodied with moderately light carbonation.
O: Super tasty; the beer has really mellowed and the components now have outstanding balance. While a touch of oxidation shows, it adds to the character (at this point).

Muddy, dark brown color with mocha head. Aroma has raisins, dark sugar and some other generic dark fruit character. Taste follows with dark fruits, bitter chocolate and raisins. Body is medium with light carbonation, also quite boozy. Overall this beer has some nice flavors but I think it's too bitter for the style. Some sweetness would have helped to bring out all the components in a better way.

Very dark amber pour, tan head with decent retention and a somewhat sticky lacing. You can tell from the smell that this is a Belgian quad - caramel / brown sugar, dried fruit (figs, raisins), coffee, cocoa, a bit of vanilla and a hint of cinnamon. Taste notes include raisins, figs, caramel, sour cherries, some cinnamon (which I probably wouldn't have noticed, had I not known it should be there), coffee, dark chocolate and a spicy chilli punch, probably made more potent by the high ABV. Medium to full bodied, with a creamy and a bit sticky mouthfeel. Spicy aftertaste, with a nice sweet caramel component to balance it out.

Thanks Liz!
Burgundy / copper body with a small tan head. Dark fruits aroma with a hint of spice. Hints of red wine. Malty body with notes of sweet caramel. Sweet plums, a touch of cinnamon. Good stuff.

Bottle from Bristol Farms Palm Desert for $8
Appearance – Brown colour with an above average size fizzy beige coloured head. There is an average amount of carbonation and there is some great lacing. The head lasted for over 5 minutes before it was gone.
Smell – Malts, caramel, fruit cake, dark fruits, all spice
Taste & Mouth - There is an average amount of carbonation and I can taste malts, caramel, and a bit of chocolate. There is also some raisins/plums/cherries, oranges, and an all spice mix.
Overall – Really complex and the flavours are integrated very well. I suspect that age has really helped this beer based on other reviews. If you have some of this tucked away, give it a try - I bet it's peaking.
