On the way back from the beach to our hotel we stopped by The Lost Abbey. Parking was tough but we found a spot around the corner. Walked in what we thought was the entrance to a bare room, kept walking to a large open area looking very much like the warehouse the building is. A small group of people were sitting at the corner of the bar but otherwise was very quiet. A guy came over and explained they were closed today for an industry brew day. He then asked what we were in for. I told him I was looking for a sticker or shirt and just wanted to check it out. He took us over to the bar, sold me a shirt, explained they don't do stickers. He then gave us two free beers for the trouble! What trouble? Guy went out of his way to hook it up on a day they were closed? Awesome. Beer was great of course. Service was impeccable. I would have loved to have stayed longer or visited again but no such luck. Cool place, if in the area I would stop by again in a heartbeat.

Yet another nice to place in northern San Diego. So many places to stop in at. You'll want to rent a party bus or have a DD.

I enjoyed a few tasters here but also was slightly disappointed not to find some wild barrel-aged beer on tap or something of the sort. They did have a few taproom only beers so that was a plus.

The space is big and garage-like, which seemed pretty common with most of the northern San Diego breweries being in industrial park spaces.

Prices were decent and service was friendly.

Lost Abbey is in Stone’s old brewing facility. I’ve always loved Lost Abbey’s set-up and have been going to their tasting room for years. The tasting room itself is set up aside from the brewing operations. There are plenty of in house offerings both from Port Brewing and Lost Abbey. Lost Abbey specializes in Belgian-ish offerings, while Port brews more American IPAs and other (more) conventional brews. Usually there are a few limited kegs of offerings below the chalkboard. There are bottles to drink in house, as well as to go. The scene can get crowded and there has always been a lack of chairs, as most people end up standing. Other knock is that it can get hot and (for whatever reason) Lost Abbey often relies on fans.

Not a huge fan of their beer (other than Cable Car and I haven't had Duck Duck Gose) and they didn't have anything great on tap. Was unimpressed with the few I tried. Vibe was ok, cool place if the beer was better. Food truck outside had some pretty good bbq.

I didn't get a chance to dip into the vintage bottle list, that could have been changed my perception of the place.

I loved the atmosphere at Lost Abbey. It's nothing unique, it just has a certain feel to it and they have a great selection of beer that are all of great quality.

The San Marcos location is a small place, and I wouldn't have it any other way. The beers are fantastic, cheap, and come with a very relaxed atmosphere. Don't go expecting to see anything but the bar and brewing equipment. Grab a barrel and enjoy one of the more unique brewing experiance in San Diego.

One of my favorite breweries and tasting rooms there is. Their beers are world class and their staff and tasting room are SD OG. No gimmicks here. My only complaint is the price of their bottles.

Another visit on my tour of San Diego. I have been wanting to go here for oh so many years as I love LA and it did not disappoint. Nice set of taps, bottles to go and everyone was uber friendly!
