Enjoyed in a tulip.
A. Pours a deep mahogany with a small finger coffee colored head that doesnt linger very long and leaves very little lacing

S. Strong chocolate malt aroma but also hints of vanilla bean.

T. Starts out with a stong mix of vanilla and dark chocolate then moves to Drk bittersweet chocolately taste and finishes with a coffee aftertaste

M. Rich and creamy. Strong full bodied with nice carbonation.

Overall: a great beer to enjoy for dessert. Great flavor, carbonation is good.

On tap at the PB. ABV = 8.5% as stated at the PB. We were told it is a mix between a RIS and an Oatmeal stout....
Poured into tulip; slight tan foam, black as night. Great aromas of roasted coffee, toffee, and malts; slight vanilla. Taste is again of roasted malts and coffee. There is a slight vanilla taste, but its hidden - too much in my opinion. I dont really taste any bourbon unfortunately. Mouthfeel is a bit dry, but otherwise smooth. The alcohol is hidden Very well...you wouldnt even thing this was 8.5%.
Nice stout...not my fav, but still very drinkable and enjoyable; especially on a cold night like it was.

Enjoyed in a tulip glass

A: Pours a deep deep mahogany verging on black that is completely hazed and has a finger of creamy milk chocolate colored head that dissipates rapidly, leaves spotty lacing
S: purely and exclusively chocolate malts with sweet vanilla extract like notes
T: the girls we are with think it tastes like dirty soap, i think it begins with vanilla then moves into a ton of milk chocolate which brings in a bit of bitter dark chocolate which lingers very aggressively on the palate
M: great carbonation, silky and thin, leaves a bit of a cooling feeling on the palate
O: a real solid dessert brew, drinks smooth, no hint of the alcohol, smooth and very tastey

An excellent beer served in a tulip glass with a thin dark tan head. This black hole beer smells like vanilla, and milk chocolate. This creamy beer is not as thick as some of the other stouts I've had. However, it is thick enough. The vanilla, bourbon, & chocolate flavors are blended nicely. This beer is not as good as the Bourbon County Stout, but is a extremely close second. Had this at Peekskill Brewery, a very pub/Resturant right near the train station.

Appearance: Pours dark and thin with no crown, lace, or retention.

Smell: Vanilla bean dominates with some fairly tame bourbon saying hello from time to time. Perhaps a bit of prune and date as well.

Taste: Same as nose.

Mouthfeel: A touch undercarbonated but it works for the style, especially considering the body isn't heavy.

Overall: My favorite house brew of the day but I passed on getting a growler filled.

Black with a creamy thick mocha head of 2 fingers. Served in a tulip. This beer is lables on BA as a milk stout but at brewpub clearly states "vanilla bourbon imperial stout". No ABV listed however.

Black fruits, vanilla, milk chocolate, dark cocoa, hints of bourbon and oak.

Vanilla and chocolate really play well together, thick and juicy mouthfeel with light bourbon notes on the finish. Some oak as well. Anise, mollasses, prune also round out the mid palate. A nice treat and the best beer of the day here.

Served in a tulip at the Peekskill Brewery on two seperate occasions (7/14, 7/27). Rich dark brown with nice head retention.

Strong vanilla aroma balanced with a dark malty smell.

A sweeter than expected taste with hints of vanilla bean and caramel accompanied by a hot alcohol taste. Theres no question that this is an imperial stout.

Average mouthfeel and carbonation fit to style. I found this to be a great "sipper" either to accompany one of their red meat entrees, or to have as a digestif. (i on the other hand, drank it while watching the yankee game.)

Would recommend to a friend and drink again. One of my favorite Peekskill offerings.

On a road-trip, so I had this beer in the small tasting-size only.

Appearance is similar to many dark stouts. Head was not very pronounced.

Smell was pleasant, but not very strong - I neither noted an alcohol smell nor anything to distinguish it from others.

Taste was very good and even - from first sip to last, the beer had a subtle yet confident taste. The vanilla is noticeable, but not distracting. It feels like a stronger beer, but the alcohol taste is not over-bearing. After finishing the beer I would have enjoyed another (but wanted to try the brewery's other offerings).

On tap at the brewpub, 3x last night, before and after a real nice Derek Trucks Band show up the road at the Paramount. In a Belgian style tulip, near black, dark khaki, frothy head, nice retention, leaves all kinds of nice sheeting and gauzy lacing. None too exciting nose, just a hint of vanilla and the expected darker grains. Enjoyable stout, vanilla infused and on the sweet side. Has enough dark malts and a drying hop note late to balance things out and make this a worthy choice on a chilly winters night.
