A friend of mine whose beer palate I seem to have irreparably changed brought me to this place for the first time on Labor day. Having just had the first pint of Harp I'd had in a couple of years, and finding it to be rather soapy, I was very pleased to find another bar in NYC dedicated to craft beer.
What I sampled from the $5 Labor Day specials- Dogfish Head Festina Peche, Bear Republic Black Mamba, Elysian Avatar Jasmine IPA... a couple others I don't quite recall at the moment... which is a good sign!
Plenty to choose from on tap, all of which seemed fresh and thoughtful. The beer menu included Beer Advocate ratings for each of their beers which was pleasing to see. The bar food menu had a pretty wide selection of standard bar selections- chicken fingers and wings, mozzarella sticks, nachos, sliders etc, and the sampler platter I sampled from demonstrated some tastiness. Again, fresh and thoughtful.
The real selling point of this place is the awesome golden retriever that seems to live there. His name is James or Jameson and he seems to be smarter than all of us.
Excellent, excellent location for a business as it is literally half a block away from the Empire State building, which means this place is likely to be pretty crowded much of the time. A beer geek visiting NYC should check it out.

Another great beer bar, good food, great beer, and cask beer. I stayed down the street from here for a month and frequented this place quite a bit. The staff is friendly, and the beer is good. My favorite beer bar in Manhattan.
