There were two places that I really enjoyed having a beer during my time at St. Cloud State University. The first was the downtown Bravo Burrito and the second was O'Hara's. The atmosphere is decent... I prefer the "old" bar to the newer add-on, though you'll find the brewery and popcorn in the other bar as well as the stairway to the basement bar. The bar is set to be remodeled in the near future. The food is good not overly adventurous, but definitely tasty and well-made. The beer quality is above average as well, and the seasonals really shine. If you have the chance, don't miss their Dubbel Trouble. Service has been consistently good for as long as I can remember. No complaints, really. Though there are only two, in my book, this is the best brewpub in town.

I went to O'Hara's today after a graduation ceremony with a party of 10. It was Mother's Day. We did NOT have a reservation. Let me start off by saying that I have been here several times in the past, and have received excellent, above-par even, service. Today; this was not the case. We waited a good hour before we were seated, even though several other parties without reservations were seated ahead of us. Once we were finally seated, we waited another 15 minutes for a server. She had no knowledge of the beers on hand, and offered no help. (For the record, they have four regular brews: a pale, a red, a pilsner and a stout, they rotate a seasonal, in this case, a Maibock). All the food they serve on a holiday is served Buffet-style, in this case, a brunch, where we waited another 20 minutes in line.
All that aside, the food was very good. They had a huge variety of meats, and sides. Everything was fresh and the cooks were constantly refilling the dishes. Everyone in my party had their fill and more.
I had two beers, which were served VERY cold, almost too cold, but they were decent. The Maibock was good, but not my favorite (see separate review). The pale ale was your standard pale, but I'd order it again.
After the intial bout of in-attentive-ness, our server seemed to warm to us. Our drinks were brought to us in good time and I certainly didn't have any further complaints.
The brewpub itself is broken up into three bars, two upstairs and one downstairs. There are two dining sections as well. The brew kettle and mash are right in the middle of one of the upstairs dining rooms. St. Cloud has yet to go smoke-free, and many of the rooms are smoky, if this bothers you, seek out the smoke free section.
I definitly have no qualms about eating here again, and the beers are above average, but make sure you avoid it on holidays, unless you have a reservation.

Stopped in on Saturday with my wife. We went to school at St. Cloud State University 10 years ago and we used to hang out here so it was sentimental for us. They didn’t have the brew pub portion of it when we were in school. It is a welcome addition.

The addition they made in 1996 added the brewery and a lot more dining tables. It’s grown to be a pretty big place. There are two separate dining and bar areas. Only the smaller (original) part was open when we were there. Still feels the same…everything is green, although I’m not sure there is a lot of Irish in it….just a lot of green.

Not sure about their other non-craft offerings, but they brew 4 beers year round and have one seasonal (this time is was the Maibock and I picked up a growler…they have growler specials everyday, usually half off, except for Sunday). Their four standard beers are called Golden Honey Wheat, Quarry Rock Red, Pantown Pale Ale, and Sid’s Irish Stout. They offer a sampler platter of six beers, which also includes their version of a black and tan, which is the Pale and Stout mixed together, not layered. I had the sampler and my wife had the Golden Honey Wheat. All were very tasty, but nothing that really jumped out and asked me to have more. We got a growler of the Maibock as a souvenir, so to speak.

The food is very good. I always get the charbroiled buffalo wings and my wife always gets the mexi-nachos. The have lunch specials that includes such Irish favorites as meatloaf, spaghetti, and a hot turkey sandwich and a full dinner menu as well. The dinner menu includes steaks, prime rib, walleye, and a few pastas

The service was (and always was) very friendly and attentive.

I would recommend stopping in if you are in the St. Cloud area.

An average place although I never seem to hit their "seasonal" beers when in town....atmosphere is basic...it's a big place but nothing jumps out....beers are easy drinking but that about says it all....the service when I have been there has been OK...nothing to shout about but nothing to be pissed about...the last time I was there was a Sunday afternoon...the dude seemed hungover and slow....more power to him...I'm happy he had a good time on Saturday night and I still got my beers in due time....the food is good but nothing to stop specifically for....nothing wrong with the burgers and appetizers I've had but nothing special either...

This place is worth trying out....I'd go Granite City over this but the gap is not as large as some would make you believe
