Officially listed as "blueberry wheat" by a brewery rep at the GCBF. This is NOT the blueberry ale.
Whatever it's called, the color is a blend of red, pink and purple, almost a thinner mauve. The head is fairly scant but leaves a foam with enough structure to drop spotty lacing.
Blueberry really pulls through in the aroma. It's light, but no lighter than I expect from Granite City. Wheat lays down a solid backbone with support from light malts.
As in the aroma, blueberry prevails in the flavor. This works as a light lager. Big beer lovers may shy away from these kinds of beers, but someone who embraces beer for what it is may like this one. True, it could use a little more substance, but it works for what it is. The blueberry is sweet but not cloying. It's certainly preferable over a BMC lime.
The mouthfeel is light but pretty appropriate. There is a generally smooth, mostly crisp feel, though it could be a little cleaner.
Serving type: growler
