I hardly do reviews, but decided to do one for this Pub. I was downtown with the kids at the splash pad and decided with my friend we would walk down to get a drink, we've been to the Roo a plethora of times without incident and have met many great friends over the years. We get to the Roo and order a round of Long Islands, this bartender had served us before and recognized us and cheerfully made our drinks for us. They were great as they usually are and we head back down to the splash pad. The kids werent tired out after another hour or so so we went back to grab another drink, this time there was a new bartender working. I ordered the drinks, we get them and pay for them. This time, the drinks are spiced in some way. My friend couldn't drink it because she doesn't like dark liquor at all, so we brought them back after taking two sips. He remade the drinks the exact same way. I was confused because I don't understand where he went wrong, a Long Island is a staple drink. It's literally the only drink I order when I go out unless I am drinking wine. He dumped the drinks and asked me to leave. Told me that if I didn't he would call the cops. I left, but he still kept my money and I never got my drink. I only had one previous to that with the other bartender. After I reviewed it on FB the bar responded back to me, calling me a liar and a drunk! We ended up going home and enjoyed drinks there. I was never rude nor loud with him, I am assuming he was new or had a bottle in the wrong spot on his rack and put the wrong liquor in. Either way, I won't be going back there and I won't be recommending this bar anytime soon.

Love the tap selection. One of the biggest and diversified in town. They usually have some really high end beers to choose from, including some they age in the cooler for a year. The big downfall, and I do mean big, is they let dogs in the bar and near everyone smokes. It is hard to enjoy an $8 draft of good beer with smoke swirling around you. I still stop once or twice a month to taste the offerings, I just have to sit outside like a leper.

comfortable joint, impressive range of selections on tap as well as a a large cooler full of bottles and cans of the good stuff, for consumption in the pub or to take home. Well worth a stop if you are in the Bradenton area, or as I was, on my way to Anna Maria Island

Great pub on a nice street. Easy parking and they had a nice selection of beers. Relax in the back with some friends and throw some darts. Drink Prices are reasonable at the roo.

Always friendly. Great staff. Great selection of beers, bottle and draft. Comfortable, but can get too busy at times. Dog friendly. Snacks and food provided on Sundays. This is a great bar.

I absolutely love this bar. As of right now it is the best bar in the area. They offer a great selection of craft brews that are constantly changing. When i'm there I feel at home. The staff is pretty knowledgeable of beer and make great recommendations after they learn your palate

This place had a great selection of beers, it looked like at least 25 taps or more. It's kind of a weird place though. It has the crappy dive bar atmosphere where it is just a cloud of smoke pouring out the door, which makes no sense. I don't think they know what they want to be, because a craft beer bar combined with dive bar smokiness simply does not work and ruins the beers. I even sat outside and the smoke was still a huge detraction. It would be a lot better if they made it no smoking. Service was friendly and fast, no complaints.

The atmosphere is great, but I tend to go during the day to avoid the smoke. The tap selection is great and the owner tries to keep new and rare beers on tap. They also try to emphasize local beer, and I have found a lot of CCB, Saint Somewhere, and Swamphead beers on tap. The bottle selection is impressive and fairly priced. The staff is very helpful and they are always willing to give beer tastes. There are numerous TVs, darts, and pool tables so there is plenty to keep you busy. The bar can get crowded on the weekend, but I tend to avoid the crowd by sitting outside and visiting during the day when I have time off from work. All in all, it's a great place to find and drink craft beer.

Decided to go here after reading that its the best place in the area for craft beer.

Atmosphere: I read the reviews before entering, so i was expecting a smoke bomb as i opened the door. this did not happen. it really doesn't have that much of a smoke stench, and i HATE smoke. its a large place inside, lots of seating. pool table. good for craft beer.

Quality/ Selection: this is amazing. i was groaning at all the beers i saw that i really wanted to try. i could go here many times before running out of new beers. they had Sierra Nevada beer camp beers and draft as well as some good locals such as Swamphead and St.Somewhere

Definitely a place i want to come again.

Since I have in-laws in Bradenton, I have been looking for a good spot to have a beer, and decided I'd give Lost Kangaroo a try. I am thinking I will have to give it another chance on a future visit, as what I experienced just isn't adding up with what I read here. Walked into the bar, with sports blazing on the tv, cigarettes puffin' (can't knock them for FL laws), and a bar full of guys drinking yellow fizzy beers in frosty mugs. Not exactly a great first impression. They do have a solid enough offering list, and nice enough bar tenders. Our bartender gladly grabbed a bottle of CCB Warmer Winter Winter Warmer, but then proceeded to pour the entire contents into two pint glasses! I am not one to be too picky, but I just can't let this treatment of the beer slide. Had another bottle of CCB, though, which this time I requested go in a snifter, he filled it to the rim. Guess people at this bar like their beer mug full! Bartender then told us how he doesn't like CCB due to it having "too much flavor." Anyway, can't knock anyone for personal tastes, but I am having a hard time defining this as a craft beer bar. Decent selection, but not the best treatment of the beer.

I went there Saturday night with my wife and a group of friends. We were there from 10:00 PM to 0100 AM. They were very busy, but we were expecting that given the day and time that we chose to go. The draft and bottle selections were great. They had cigar city on tap and in bottles. I started out with a can of Ten Fidy. Then I switched up to some Cigar City and had a Patio Tools. From there I had a few different DFH and a Weyerbacher Heresy. My wife had a few different Framboises (we took a cab). The bar staff was slammed, but I had no problem ordering drinks. They don't serve food, therefore smoking is permitted. They have arcade style games (golden tee is always a plus), darts, and a pool table. I bought 3 jagers and the aforementioned brews and our tab was only $45. Not to bad at all! Obviously if you are going to try to review a beer and chat with the staff, Saturday late night is not the time to go given the large crowd, smoke, and music. However, we had a blast and I will go back often!!! ***sidenote*** the dudes were outnumbered by the females easily!

On vacation in the area for a week and my fiance and I decided to stop in after a day full of hanging out with family.

The atmosphere was a bit lacking but I'm guessing that has more to do with the fact that we were in there on a Monday night at 8pm. Looked like the place wold be fun even with a crowd though.

Quality was pretty good. The place looked pretty new and looking at reviews below its just recently moved to its new location.

Service wasn't the best as the bartenders on that night weren't the most knowledgeable about the beer but that wasn't really a problem since I knew what I was looking at.

Selection, for Florida especially, was very good. Cigar City, DFH, The Bruery, Lagunitas and Blue Point were all part of the rotating tap list and the regular tap list was solid if not impressive.

Overall this was a nice place to have a few beers on a Monday night and to try some things that we don't get up here in New Hampshire, the highlight being Cigar City's Winter Warmer Warmer Winter which was great on tap.

If you're in the area I definitely recommend a stop at the Lost Kangaroo.

I have been to the Roo many times, but this is my first time since the place moved across the street and got a complete overhaul. Really nice atmosphere when you first walk in. Everything is very new, but it has a rustic feel. Pool table, dart boards, just what you would want in a pub. Probably around 30 taps, with many of them rotating. They had the Cigar City, DFH, and Bell's staples along with special taps of HopSlam and Oak aged Wake n Bake. Nice bottle selection as well. The one major downfall is the massive amount of smoke. This makes reviewing, and properly enjoying, beer very troublesome. And I would say the bartenders have average at best beer knowledge. But all in all, nice renovation, great tap list, and a place I will continue to patronize. Skal.

Kinda disappointed with this place. The knock is partially the smoking laws in this neck of the woods, but some is fully on the bar itself.
The good:
Beer selection is very good, counting some 40 taps or so, and good ones to boot. No idea about bottle selection. Prices seemed reasonable for good beer, although maybe high for an area where $1 pints are not uncommon. Spacious layout.
The bad:
The air quality is absolutely atrocious. Beers here are unreviewable due to the intense smokiness inside. Despite having many beers available, it's difficult to order them due to an outdated beer list, this is compounded by many of the taps being out of sight.

Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place despite the selection. There are other bars that serve good craft beer (although not the selection) in a far superior environment.

The only bar in town that has a decent selection of craft beer. It is the only game in town, folks. Luckily, the owner is a fan of good beer and he knows about Cigar City.

Peanut shells cover the floor on busy days. No big deal though. Projection screen plays sports just about 24/7. Whether there is anything important on or not. Bartenders are pretty knowledgeable about craft beer and are also friendly with customers.

They carry the basic craft selection. No special releases or casks, at least not that i know of. Rotating craft taps. Some Cigar City stuff, which is incredibly fresh and delicious. The Jai Alai is fucking awesome. They do have a fairly decent selection of bottles and about thirty beers on draft. You do have to go look at the chalk board to see the selection, but it hasn't been updated in awhile. It is pretty hard to see.

All in all, it's the best bar in the county, BY FAR. So if you're in town, go to the Lost Kangaroo and enjoy yourself, because there ain't shit anywhere else in this county.

Bar: Lost Kangaroo is a Pub, and has a feel of a Pub. I have met the friendliest people here, and have been sucked into bar-wide debates about things you normally don't talk about in a bar (i.e. politics, region, movies and of course sex).

Selection: 28 Drafts. I think the only place that has Cigar City Double Nut Brown ale on Tap(said they bought 8 kegs).Mixed bag of English & German beers all year round. Seasonal include Sierra Nevada, Sam Adams, Brooklyn, Dogfish Head. Rotating drafts i've seen : Golden Drak, Red & White, Rogue Choco, Avery Barley Wine, etc.

They have 85 bottles but are only listed on a chalk board to the right of the bar.

Prices: Not sure their current prices but they used to sell $3.75 pints(20 oz), I think now pints are $4.50. I bought a Bottle of Saint Somewhere and it was $12 at a bar NICE.

Classic Bradenton Pub. Better than nearly all local bars in selection. They have a rotating list of 25-30 beers on tap with a decent # in bottles. The bottle selection is not advertised very clearly though. It is pretty smoky inside, but the tables outside make a nice location. Peanut shells on the floor at to the good pub feel. It has been the landmark bar in downtown Bradenton for probably 20 years, and looks to condinue so.

The owner, Rob, is very in touch with beer festivals and events. He is a good advocate.
