Ah, my old faithful. 12oz green bottle that pours a clear amber color. Very small white head fades away fast.
Aroma is faint lightly toasted malt. Not much to really note here.

Taste is a little bit sweet toasted caramel malt. Biscuity and dry. A faint citrus hop on the back end through the finish. Clean and crisp. Full of flavor for a basic lager.

Dry finish. Medium bodied. Smooth and easy to drink. Good carbonation.

I'm a bit biased for this beer as it was probably the first beer I ever actually liked. It's a good go to simple beer. Gets the job done. Sometimes I just get a craving for this beer and it's a reliable choice when the draft selection isn't that great as you find pretty much find this beer anywhere. I'll always have a special place for The old Traditional.

From my attempt at a non-biased perspective, it's too good to be called "okay", but not good enough to be "great." From my biased perspective as a Pennsylvanian, I'm proud to have grown up around such a fine old-school, family-owned, Pennsylvania-made lager.

Anyway...

Nice appearance. I know green bottles are supposed to be possibly skunkier, but Yuengling has a classy look and a nice logo. It's got an American bald eagle on it, man. Amurika! This stuff just screams, "Drink me on Independence Day while booting unionists in the face and listening to Merle Haggard!"

Upon pouring, it is immediately distanced from Budweiser and other mass-market lagers by its deep amber color. The head is not terribly impressive, but it's decent, and honestly, this is, again, a decent no frills beer.

It smells hoppy and citrus-y, but not overwhelmingly so (or not strong enough; your choice).

Yuengling Traditional tastes good. Look - a common American lager with noticeable hops! Fairly dry, but very, very creamy. Rather malty. Not much of an aftertaste. Very clean-cut stuff. Crisp, crisp, crisp.

This beer will never knock one's socks off, but the thing with Yuengling is that it isn't trying to be anything other than what it is; a decent beer that is pleasant to drink. Though it's made to be no frills, it's really quite a nice beer.

My most recent drinking experience was from a bottle, poured into a glass, but I personally seem to prefer this beer from the tap.

One of the first beers I remember Actually Enjoying. These days, on my trips back to PA, I find myself drinking Yuengling out of a can. I grew up drinking Yuengling in a bottle, but the can seems to have a better taste. It may be time for Yuengling to switch to a Brown Bottle. Summer in a Can.
