Extra in a trade, thanks Kadonny! Poured from 12 oz bottle (no date) into a Stone taster glass.
A: Pours dark brown, with some light penetrating. 1 finger khaki head, some retention.
S: Sorta like Guinness. Dark roasty malts and some twang from the yeast. It's meh.
T: smokey, chocolate, burnt malt, coffee. A bit of bitterness, and a good amount of funky twang from the lager yeast. Not a huge fan, but not bad for the style.
M: Not great. Highly carbonated and watery. Like a below average porter. Might be a better beer to have on a nitro tap.
Overall this beer is OK, and I'm glad to have tried it from such a classic brewery that I can't get out here on the west coast. That being said, I would take a Guinness black and tan over this one any day.
