One of our heritage beers, Yuengling Lord Chesterfield Ale has as much rich heritage as it does flavor and appeal. Crafted in a unique two-stage European brewing style for enhanced bitterness, it utilizes both conventional kettle hopping and dry hopping after fermentation resulting in a dry sharp finish. Its distinct robust flavor is derived from a delicate combination of sweet maltiness and lingering herbal bitterness.

I am biased, this is my everyday quaff. But there is a reason for that...

It's got a lot of flavor: dry and bitter, flowery up front, earthy underneath. A very drinkable English Pale. Not too heavy, not too fancy, just consistently delicious and refreshing.

The negative reviews baffle me... this stuff is just good. Get you some! Go for the canned version.

Poured from an undated 12 oz. can: deep golden with a fluffy and sustained white head.

Very fresh aromas of mild fruits and noble hops.

As many have stated in their reviews, this "ale" has a lager-like quality to the refreshing and clean mouthfeel; indeed, the brewery switched from a top-fermenting to a bottom-fermenting yeast. I don't know why - perhaps, they thought it would sell better. It does have a husky, minerally, and doughy flavor that makes you believe lager, not ale. Regardless, it is very flavorful and quaffable and certainly deserves higher ratings.

Had this beer for the first time at Yuengling after the tour. Had absolutely no taste, which is very interesting for a pale ale, usually you will get some hoppy bitterness although I got nothing from this beer.

12oz can

On the pour one finger of white head formed on top of a bright golden, slightly hazy head. A beautiful cascade of carbonation was visible on the pour. Some lacing forms.

Aroma is light but carries herbal and earthy hop notes. There is some slight skunk present. Malt is very pale and crackery.

Overall, this is a very nice change of pace that bridges the gap between standard pale lagers, and strong flavored craft beers. Traditional vibes and solid quality.

Flavor is very nice and on par with true English pale ales. Mild biscuity malt balances the herbal and earthy hops. There is a slight bitterness, but it isn't that strong. Finishes subtly sweet.

Feel is refreshing and easy drinking, but more full bodied than any lager. There is a slight drying sensation during the long malty finish.

This is a good tasting beer from the oldest brewery in the USA. It really should get more love. The mild bitterness gives it enough character to enjoy by the campfire with friends. It goes down easy like a light beer. This beer is bonafide Moose Juice.

Medium gold, clear.
Smells grainy, there’s also some floral notes.
Tastes like grain upfront, the bitterness is moderate to strong.
Compared to Yuengling traditional, this stuff is in another galaxy. It’s really that good.
It’s very Pilsner like but with a different hop profile.
I like it, wish it was an available in the Houston area.

I had never seen this - it was a surprise to know that this even existed from this brewer. I found it to be a very good looking beer - very promising, but then, the wheels fell off the wagon. The smell was akin to something musty, though the mouthfeel was light and crisp. It's taste had a slight metallic twinge to it, thought it was spiced with coriander - maybe a bit too much. Anyway, it's not awful, but it's not something I would necessarily go out an actively look forward to in the future. The only problem I have is that I bought a 12-pack, I will need to see if I can off-load some of these with some friends...

poured from a 12oz can into a forager pint glass. pours a fairly clear gold with over three fingers of soapy white foam. light, earthy hops and a touch of malt sweetness on the nose and taste. almost a lemony like lager flavor to it. very smooth and a nice balance of malt and hops. medium-full mouthfeel with a really smooth finish. this is quite good.

Clear, pale gold, with moderate white head.

Smell is lightly-sweet toasted grain, some honey and floral aromas, and bit of fresh crackery malt.

Taste is light toasted grain, lighter and drier than in the aroma, a slight bitter herbal flavor, a brief flash of the honey+floral element, finishing with a moderate kiss of bitterness, a slight vegetal flavor, akin to how aging dried hops smell, and a little bit of spiciness.

Feel is light , with moderate, very fine, sharp carbonation , that leaves the front of the tongue feeling lightly sanded & dry.

Overall, comes across as an old-school pale ale. Easy-drinking and satisfying. Nothing fancy , just a good beer, well-done. Glad to finally find a single to try this. Now I won't hesitate to grab the full 12pk.

From a 12 ounce can the pour is canary colored. The taste is light to medium body along with some earthy mineral notes, soft grapefruit note & some hops. All in all, this was not a challenging beer but it's not too bitter. This might be one of the better Yeungling beers that I've had & the price is not too bad either. Overall, this was a simple pale ale but there is some flavor, I would like to try the bottled & draft versions. Cheers! B-
