S- Honestly kinda skunky.

T- Grainy and malty with a hop finish

M- Light and carbonated

O- I have to wonder if I had a bad bottle due to the skunky smell, drinkable but won't want again.

Yuengling lord chesterfield Ale 6pk bottles $6.99(OH)

My 50th beer review!

12 oz green bottle poured into a 17 oz white wine glass. No freshness date, look up the bottle codes on freshbeeronly.

Pours a light gold, maybe almost pale yellow. Almost two fingers of bright white head that don't last long. Gives way to minimal lacing.

The aroma is skunky, grassy, a nice hop/floral aroma but it's hidden behind a lot of bad smells. At the end I smell a hint of corn, maybe a light adjunct was used.

Taste follows the nose. Its a grassy, floral taste. That ends with a hoppy skunky dryness. I don't taste any adjuncts, better hidden in the taste maybe.

mouth feel is highly carbonated but crisp. Floral notes hang around for a while with a slight dryness/bitterness that clings to your mouth.

Overall not yuengling's best. It has an old school brew look and taste. A little skunky due to the green bottles and improper storage. A budget Ale that dont quite hit the right notes with me. I like Yuengling, their summer wheat is amazing! This however is a hit and miss. Not a beer to remember.

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass
A: Orange-ish yellow with a thin head that disappears almost instantly
S: Sweet malt/creamed corn with light citrus/pine from hops
T: Matches the nose. Sweet malt, sweet corn, light hop notes
M: Light-bodied, smooth and crisp
O: I'm not sure why this is rated so poorly overall. It lacks complexity but is much better than any macro lager I've had; I'd be happy with one of these any time

Don't drink this one too often but a decent deal for the $5.99/6 price! Yuengling is one of my good 'ol' American go-to beers if I happen to find it in a supermarket of 'non-interesting' beers while traveling.

Appearance:
Pale amber-yellow, light carbonation, Decent head - about 15 mm - and a decent amount of lacing left around the entire glass as well (had this one in a pilsner glass)

Smell:
Has a light hoppy aroma with some malt. Can even notice a mixture of some grass and floral elements. No metals are noticeable.

Taste:
Can't really fit this one with any particular style, although it claims to be an ale. I can definitely taste the hops and it is a little on the dry side. Nothing really offensive stands out. Tastes like a Yuengling!

Mouthfeel:
The ale starts out smooth with a course finish. However, it is drinkable and I could easily quaff a few down while barbecuing outside on a hot summer's day.

Overall comment:
This ale tends to have a certain uniqueness to it that satisfies the curiosity without leaving you broke. I truly don't find it to be all that bad... just different. This is probably because it doesn't really fit the style very well but it does get the job done! What can I say? Try it.

(on tap at Tap Room on 19th, South Philly - served in a shaker pint)

Not sure what they're trying to accomplish with this one.

They honestly can't throw another bucket of finishing hops in? If it was a bit hoppier (nose and flavor), you might have something decent here - not that it's awful - it just seems carelessly made. There seems to be the proper bitterness, but also a mildly-astringent, dirty-husk spine to it that blurred out what tasty pale malt flavor there may have been.

I hate to make the comparison (apologies to the latter), but this reminds me of Yards Phila Pale Ale, de-hopped. The ultra-light, yellowish color of the liquid with the foamy white suds atop. Almost had a bit of head retention - less than perfectly clean glass had something to do with it? How can I complain - $2 happy hour draft? - got my money's worth.

Hard to say what it smells like - dried tall grass, dry 2-row, and pennies? Seriously, they could easily enhance the quality of this beer with little effort or damage to their wallets. It drank crisp and satisfying enough, but with just enough sucking-on-a-penny tang to make you wanna perhaps see what else is on the draft list. I did briefly consider having another...

Had to have this, though. Rarely see it on tap in the city. Better than in the bottle by a few notches.

This pours a light straw gold with a fat head of foam that fell slowly enough and left spots of lace. Nose is faint. Hardly any nose at all until it warms a bit and then you have faint grain, a touch of sweetness and a bit of grass. A faint lemon shows up late. Body is thin and watery but is' well carbonated and has a nice bite. The flavors are a bit husky and while they do not really excite they do fill up the palate. The lemon has a bit of tartness and a spritzy like character on the palate. There is a touch of buttery diacetyl that keeps this from finishing crisp and dry and leaves a bit of slickness that lingers a bit before it dries out eventually. Also a hint of cooked vegetable, green beans in the aftertaste .Also some sour in the aftertaste.

It has a bit of pepper in the very last moments of the aftertaste and I like the lager much better.
