I Like Yuengling as a Brewery, and dig their Porter & Bock a lot..however I totally understand why some traditional Beer purist Slag Yuengling a lot,as much as I enjoy their Bock Beer,it is not even close to any type of traditional bock whatsoever, and I swear... to me it has a very Grapefruit like taste in the background, lol.
anyway,Yuengling "Octoberfest" is not a Bad Beer, but it is really sweet,a bit too sweet for my taste,@ least for the type of beer it is supposed to be~
it pours out a nice amber/copper color and you can smell the roasted malts right of the bat, also a bit of toffee smell in there.
the taste is pretty decent, exept for the sweetness that comes creeping in after the first swallow.
while I would have no problem drinking this Beer if someone hands me one,I personally would not buy it,or seek it out again,as I said, not a Bad Beer, but not worth looking for either, because there are so many Gr8 "Octoberfest" Beers out there.Cheers & Peace2All.

My first O-fest beer of the year.Poured one and a half bottles into a half liter stein,a clear lighter bronze shade with a large fluffy slightly off white crown atop.Aromas are light and clean with a hint of caramel and toasted grain.A little watery feel to it,flavors mainly of caramel and a touch of grain. It's very average and not complex but I didn't expect it to be mind blowing.Hopefully the worst Oktoberfest beer of the year for me.

12oz brown bottle with no freshness date.

Clear darkish amber hue, thin lacing. Slightly sweet nose, toasted malt, faint caramel, hint of hops, clean. Big on crispness, slightly smooth, lighter bodied, grainy, mild toasted husk, feigned sweetness, touch biscuity, light hopping, balancing bitterness, drying grassy finish.

Not half bad, drinkability is pretty high and with this beer being clean and all I'd certainly go back for more.

2012: Pours a deep copper-amber with good head. Smell is faint malt. Taste is very smooth, like a Yuengling Lager with a hint of Oktoberfest. Easy drinking and value priced.

2013: Decent Oktoberfest, Not as good as most U.S. versions, but still drinkable. Somewhat watery, but malty with a bitter finish. Not as good as the 2012 version due to more bitter finish. I hope this trend of over-hopping beer styles that were created to be not hoppy ends sooner than later.

12oz twist off bottle poured into a pint glass.

Pours a deep amber with a burnt orange color, decent clarity. About 1-2 fingers of off white head that eventually fades to nothing.

Light mineral lager yeast with a bit of light toasted grain and light caramel, nothing special.

Mineral with a touch of sulfur lager yeast throughout with some grainy sweetness and a bit of caramel bread. Slight hints of citric hop bitterness. hHowever a little too light and lack luster for the style, carbonated like a light lager, a little overdone , but drinkable and a nice new offering from yeunling.

First Okto of 2015, poured into a pint. Comes out a clear light amber with a quick head that fades, minimal lacing. Smell is pretty sweet, mostly malts and toffee. Basic blast of sweetness on the tongue, a touch caramel, finishes wet and a little bitter. Grain husk in the middle when warm. Easy to drink but I passed on having another, wasn't expecting much from Yuengling but I think I would take this over their standard Lager.
