Had this on tap in a relatively lame bar in College Park, Maryland. Appearance was okay, somewhat decent head and a somewhat dark brown color with a splash of red- looked a little thin, though. The smell had a whiff of chocolate malt, but framed by a fairly pedestrian macrobrew nose- didn't smell much like a porter, more like a relatively thin mainstream brown ale. It didn't get better from there. The taste was thin and a little sour with only a hint of malt flavor. Hops were barely there. It was served colder than beer should normally be served, but its chill was the only thing that really made it quasi-palatable. I'm being harsh, but only because this beer has pretensions of being the real thing. For its style, its a failure. Its better than a really maintream brew, but not by much.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass 6/6/14
Pours very dark black with 1/8" of white foam that sits like a lid. Coffee, dark chocolate nose, lighter side. Taste is a very light body - thin - with a mild coffee grittiness. Short finish, hint of bitter but never really gets there. so so
