food is OK.
beer is unimaginative and poorly executed
i had a canoe of all the beers available There were 8.
the lagers were tasteless and the flashlight could easily pass for Miller LITE.
There was nothing hopp[er than their APA and it was not very good
the belgian was run-of-the-mill (at best)
the best one was a peach beer and I don't even like fruity beers
the staff didn't know much about beers and the evening manager was surly and unfriendly
this was not a good time. Maybe if I had just drank my beers and kept my opinions to myself it would have been better but what fun is a brewery when you can't talk honestly about the beers you are trying?
not worth the trip

The Blue Canoe is a great place for beer, food and atmosphere. The food was good and the service was also. This brewery makes some fine beers. The Snickers Stout was very good, the Orange Dreamsicle was great and the Hevy Kevy was excellent. A great brewery in Titusville, PA.

My wife and I are relatively new to craft beers and microbreweries. We have frequented North Country Brewery in Slippery Rock, PA since they opened several years ago and decided to create a 'bucket list' to visit and experience all local microbrewery / restaurants in the western PA and eastern OH region. Our trip began with DogFish Head in Reheboth Beach, De .... which obviously isn't in PA or OH ... but we were in the area for vacation....with that being said, and after experiencing the bliss of DFH's 120 minute IPA, we decided to begin our journey. Our first visit was to Timber Creek Brewery in Meadville, PA (this review can be seen elsewhere). Our second trip was to Blue Canoe Brewery. After reviewing their website, I wasn't sure what we were going to experience ...the website gives the impression that is new and somewhat undeveloped ....but, the beer and food reviews sounded good, so we decided to risk it ... we were pleasantly surprised immediately upon entering the restaurant / brewery. The decor is tastefully rustic and gives the impression that you are in Colorado, not Titusville PA. Seating is somewhat limited ... perhaps 1/3 the size of North Country Brewery. We chose to sit at the bar to eat and drink. We saw a steady flow of customers during our 3 hour visit. The bar is exceptionally large and is blessed with a refrigerated stainless steel trough to place your beer on ...guaranteeing that each sip was crisp and cold ... to the point that the last sips are as cold or colder than the first sip...this was great. We limited our beer to four choices: the Class 5 APA....the Heavy Kevy....the IPA (the name escapes me) and one of their rotating stouts (which was blessed with bacon...molasses and pancake batter!) Overall, we found the beers to be superior and equal to most that we have experienced...the IPA had a strong and enjoyable hoppiness, whereas the APA was slightly less hoppy with a hint of lemon in the aftertaste....Heavy Kevy was mild with a touch of licorice, while the stout had an initial smoked bacon taste and then evolved to strong hints of smouldering campfire ... overall, a pleasant tasting experience .... We found the food the food to be quite good, for the most part We limited our choices to the appetizer menu. The pizza was homemade and quite good....the PA shrooms were tasty whereas the Chef's wontons were burnt / overcooked ... Overall we are pleasantly surprised to find a quality and progressive establishment in western PA! The food was definitely good, overall, and worth exploring further and we will definitely be back to sample the same and other beers!

The Blue Canoe is a refurbished store-front in sleepy Titusville, PA. The ceilings are high and the room is completely open, while the tall windows provide plenty of light.

The bar has about twenty seats, with about 15-20 tables in addition to that. Above the bar hangs a canoe, with the tap-list chalked onto it.

The atmosphere is inviting and friendly. It seems like a good local hangout place, and a handful of people were happy to strike up a conversation with me almost immediately. After about 5pm on a Friday the place was completely full.

The service is pretty slow, and I had trouble getting the bartender's attention even when the place was empty. She made up for this, however, by being exceptionally friendly when I did get her attention.

There are about 7 house beers on-tap, one beer from Full-Pint in Pittsburgh, and an array of Voodoo Brewing bottles. The two beers I tried were very good, while the lagers and the IIPA were so-so. My beers were 3.25 a piece, which is pretty good.

The food is definitely the high point of the Blue Canoe. I ordered a cajun-style, broiled grouper sandwich. It was fantastic. Two filets of grouper came well-spiced and perfectly cooked as well as piping hot. The fish, served on grilled cornbread, is accompanied by a side of sauce, and topped with mixed greens, fresh tomato, and melted smoked gouda. It is probably the best sandwich I have had of its kind. The side dish was sweet potato fries, which were good.

This is a really cool brewpub situated in a historic area of NW PA. Not much else is available in the relative vacinity as far as a beer scene.

The storefront is in downtown Titusville-not far from the Oil Creek & Titusville RR or Oil Creek St Park if you are looking for something to do in the area.

The store front part of an old red-brick building. The inside is much newer and trendy. The bar area lies to the left of the main entrance and a square dining area more to the right. The pictures are more wild and rainforesty than the PA wilds.

The food menu is very interesting and unique with a large selection and good variety. Everything from pierogies, to bloody mary mussels, to tofu and vegetarian selections, to pizza. I had the Quesadilla Fungi which was awesome!

Last-the beer. We were there in July-I ordered the paddle sampler. All 7 brews available at the time are served on a paddle! The brew that stood out for me was the class 5 APA. A nice, hoppy, crisp, refreshing example of the style-which was perfect for a hot day.

I was really impressed with this place and will be back!

I got the sample paddle. Not a big fan of hoppy beer, but I found a few a really liked. My wife and I started with an order of mussels. Sauce was good but a little watery. I had a pizza. It was the second best pizza I've ever had. Would definitely get again. Wifey had the jumbalaya, which she couldn't finish so I helped. It was excellent also. We live an hour and a half away and can't wait to go back again SOON! Anyone debating a trip to the Blue Canoe, don't put it off any longer. If you are into biking, ride the trail. It's a nice ride and makes you fill better about stuffing your face with the great beer and food.

My wife and I have visited the Blue Canoe dozens of times. The food is always great. The appetizers that are exceptional include the fresh housemade cheese sticks and scotch eggs. Most every evening there are specials and soup. French Onion soup is a staple and always a solid choice. Service is wonderful and friendly and the atmosphere and locals is inviting. The brews are always on point only had one that I would not want to touch again. If you join the mug club you get a 24 oz pour from your own mug for the price of a pint. The mugs are about 16 bucks ceramic and have Blue Canoe on front and your nickname and number on back. A solid brewery with great food and outgoing friendly owners and chef.

The Blue Canoe Brewpub in Titusville, PA is in a refurbished store front. The old store windows give the otherwise darkly paneled bar plenty of light. The ten-barrel kettle is in a separate glass-enclosed room, and the rest of the seven-barrel system is in the basement. The dining area is small with about ten tables...the medium-sized bar has seating for about 20, plus several tables of it's own. The food was quite good and not over-priced. On the bar is an embedded, frozen metal stip, a "cool tray" to keep the glasses of beer cold. There are seven beers on tap. They are tasty and true to style.

Stopped here on a Sunday afternoon while on a weekend camping trip with my wife. Not too busy for 3pm in the afternoon.

Atmosphere: Corner building on one of the main drags in Titusville. Large, open ceilings with the bar to the left and dining tables to the right when entering. Pub tables surrounding the bar and dining area was separated from bar area which I like.

Quality/Selection: Matt Allyn and Justin Dudek are the brewers here. They also are the brewers for Voodoo beers so you may have a clue that the beers here just might be good. Seven beers on tap. I tried the sampler which included a Light Lager, Helles, Scotch Ale, Porter, APA, Stout and Hefe. They were all good and to style with the Scotch Ale being the standout among them; and one that I got a pint of. I really liked the APA as well as I am a big fan of Amarillo Hopped Ales.

Service: Was good being that we were the only 2 people at the bar at that time.

Value: $3.75 for a pint and $8 for a Growler fill are a very good bargain IMHO.

Food: Had the Grouper Sandwich which is one of my favorite fishes. Very tasty and went very well with my Scotch Ale. My wife had the Pulled Pork which was just huge that she could not finish. Also recommend spending the extra $2 for the Hand Cut Fries, you will not be disappointed.

Overall: If I lived here, I would be a regular. Matter of fact, I would be here on a daily basis if possible. All brewpubs should aspire to this...good beer and good food at reasonable prices!

This restaurant is a hidden gem in a small town in rural Pennsylvania. It's about 45 minutes from Erie, Pa...which is where I'm from. It was well worth the drive!

Great atmosphere. It's in an old brick building on the corner of the street in downtown Titusville. High ceilings, wood floors, brew kettles are right next to the tables, nice bar, clean bathrooms (it's a little bit of a jaunt to get to them, but you're glad to see the prize at the end of you walk).

The service is a bit on the slow side, but who's in a hurry when you've got beer to drink???

They offer everything from sandwiches to seafood, pasta, steaks, appetizers, desserts..you name it. Most impressive are their FRESH CUT FRIES. To me, there's nothing more impressive than great fresh cut fries. Theirs are sliced thick with a nice crisp outside and a nice soft potato-ee inside.

On to the beer.... I had a Classic 5 Pale Ale and I was expecting it to be malt heavy with little hop flavor. This was not the case as the hop flavor was very obvious and pleasent. After this I then moved to their Heavy Kevy Scotch Ale which was very dark (almost porter colored) and very smooth. Not fabulous beer, but still good.

I found the prices to be very reasonable. I had their burger and my wife had Filet. I had two beers, and we each had a piece of cheesecake and our bill came to $60.55 with tip.

I highly recommend this fine establishment if you are anywhere within an hour of it.

the atmosphere was great. in at 4pm on a friday, and by 6p it was a hoppin place. music by dean martin, tony bennett on the air. very relaxing and casual.
nice, clean bar area separated from the small dining area by a wall of glass.
beers were fairly average, seven offerings available. IMO, the best was their tripel.
We had apps to eat. the pub fries and the boneless chicken wings wih a mango hot spicey sauce, very good indeed.
This place was outstanding all around in my opinion.
I will, and cant wait to go back!

Well i was in tidiuote PA for saturday night and decided to hit the blue canoe on sunday on the way home. 3 of us got there around noon but they dont open until 12:30 on sundays. no big deal we waited. we got inside and the place was very open with a nice bar. we all ordered the beer sampler which lets u try all 7 on draft for $6. we ordered apps which were good. i really liked the sauce that comes with the fried mozzarella sticks. they have a limited menu early on sundays until dinner but we did look at the dinner menu and everything sounded great. we all ordered a 1/2# burger with fries. it was possibly the best burger i ever had. very filling and we didnt need the apps. ok the beers well the lager and light lager were ok nothing great. the porter and the scottish ale were very good not my fav styles but very good. the trippel was good but probably my least fav style but fans of trippels would def love it. the APA was my fav and was very good. i got a growler($12) to go, of the APA and it was perfect for the steeler game today. they are closed on mondays. tues-saturday they open at 3pm. 12:30pm on sundays. highly recommend oh and very clean bathrooms

The Blue Canoe Brewery is the new operation in the former Four Sons location. Not having been to the old place, I can't say how much different it is, but this place is pretty nice.

I should start my review with a caveat: the head and assistant brewers, Matt and Justin (who are also the brewers over at Voodoo in Meadville) are friends of ours, and we showed up with them. Suffice it to say, service was excellent. I'll try to stay objective.

Things were pretty slow for 8pm on a Saturday night, perhaps due to an early heavy snow. The old storefront is large, well-designed and very pleasant. We sat at the bar and worked our way through a sampler of everything they had.

I can do without a Lager and a Helles even in July, so these two weren't remotely interesting in November. There was an apple pie beer and an apple cider. Not my thing, but if you're into those, you should like these. The APA was great, something you could drink all night if you wanted to. It probably wouldn't stand out in a brewpub-intensive area, but this is Titusville, don't forget.

After we got those samples out of the way, we dived in to the three big beers on draft which were all kick-ass. It's rare to find a good Heavy Scotch Ale around, and theirs was killer. (The only place in the US to get a better Scotch Ale is Peyton's in Aurora IL, I'd say.) The Distorter Porter was appropriately named, and their ABV king, the 9.5% Dead Tony's Trippel, was the best one of the night. I had to limit myself to one glass, but they'll happily fill a growler with any of their beers, so you might do better to take this beast home and enjoy it in private.

The food was awesome (although we gave our orders directly to the head chef after we got introduced to him...) If you've never had a "Scotch Egg" appetizer, be sure to give them a try. I got the Cajun pasta (you might want to specify your spicy/non-spicy preference on this one, I like it hot) and my partner got a pizza. The menu wasn't huge, but it had a little bit of everything and it all looked good.

Despite my bias, I think any good beer fan would love this place, if (God help you) you find yourself in Titusville. If you're between Pittsburgh and Erie, it pretty much comes down to here and North Country in Slippery Rock. Both are fantastic. I'm sure the nit-picking types will find something wrong as they usually do, but this place is worth tracking down. If you're passing through on I-79 or I-80, I think the extra few miles up to Titusville will be worth your effort.
