Spritzy lacing crackles away to a thin ring on the glass, brassy amber color is bright and clear. Malty aroma with some suggestions of toasted bread, marshmallow or fruit taffy, faint caramel and a little grassy. Smooth and slick medium body. Mild hopping lets the malt grab hold of the taste buds hard with a toasted grainy flavor throughout, hint of caramel and some shortbread in the back. Hops do go a little herbal in the semi-dry finish.

A stand up Amber Ale, nothing crazy as it stays focused on showing off the malt ... good balance here as well.

Pours a deep copper/bright orange hue with some haze and lots of visible carbonation and a thin lace of off white head. Smells of toffee, caramel, and a dark fruit bowl. Tootsie roll like on the nose. Floral hop presence hidden beneath it all.

Medium body that thins out a little on the finish. Good carbonation. Flavors are weaker than the nose. Some toffee flavors and dark fruit jam, good balance from a mild hop presence. Beer doesn't hold up as well as it should but its not bad.

This beer is OK. It's not the worse American Amber Ale I've ever had. But it's nothing to write home about. Wait... I'm writing about it now. :/

A - Amber in color. Somewhat clear but it seems to have a little haze. The beer pours nicely with a white head... but <poof> it deflates as quickly as it rose. That was disappointing!

S - This is where it fell flat for me. It smelled old malt water. OK. A bit of a bad stretch here. But it did smell off.

T - It has some carmel malting to it. But I couldn't get past that soapy aftertaste.

M - Not a very lively beer. You can tell they force carbonated this beer and then it fizzled out? Dunno. Not much there. Very light but missing some life.

D - It's a drinkable beer. You could session this beer. I just can't get past that soapy aftertaste.

Pours a clear ruby amber with a off-white head and some lacing. Aroma and Taste of Caramel malt, yeast, with some fruity notes and moderate hops. Palate is a light to medium body with mild carbonation. Finish is caramel malt, yeast with some light hops and a bit of lingering nutty flavor. Aroma and taste seem a bit light and quickly dissipates. Overall an ok drinkable brew nothing outstanding about this ale.

Pours a hazy light amber color with a frothy white head that leaves a solid amount of lacing.

Smells of forward caramel malts.

Tastes of mostly malt with a slight hop finish. Malt has bread notes along with some sweet caramel. This fades into an herbal hop character that adds a minor amount of bitterness. Finishes dry. Seems a bit bland overall, could use some boosting from any of the components.

Mouthfeel is medium with a smooth amount of carbonation.

Pours a very clean and lucid amber color. Forms a good head with mediocre retention but lacing is very nice.

A little thin on the aroma with yeast and some caramel malt being the main things I'm picking up. Some leafy, grassy, hops in there but it takes a big whiff to pick them out.

Very clean on the palate with more caramel and some roasty malt on the aftertaste. Tastes like a slightly subdued Anderson Valley Boont Amber. Sweetens up slightly as it warms but not much. As in the aroma, not much in the hop department. Lacking on the complexity for my tastes but just barely enough to keep me engaged and push up the aready high drinkability.

Overall well constructed but a little too mellow for my expectations of the style. Still good enough that I'll probably give other offerings from this brewer a chance in the future.

Pours a dark red-brown with little hop aroma. Initial sip picks up a candy sweetness-and the finish is smooth, but lacks any hop character in the taste. Too sweet and could use some hops to balance the malty sweetness. Low carbonation level lends itself to a smooth finish. Because I find it too sweet I can't rate the drinkability very high. This beer is not unlike their red ale.

A - typical amber with a hint towards brown. Nice white foam head settled to a ring around the beer.

S - English hops and American hops. Carmel malt and biscuit

T - Carmel malt and biscuit mixed harmoniously with the English and American hops.

M - Somewhere between thin and medium.

D - A perfect session beer. I am really impressed with the balance of this beer.

Bottle shared by Cory (beergeeks.ca), 5.9%ABV into a tulip. 12oz bottle.

Poured a reddish brown with a tan head, that only leaves a collar behind. Sparse lacing. Nose has prominent tootsie roll characteristics, caramel, chocolate and a light peripheral citrus. Taste is of grainy bread, tootsie rolls again, caramel and a fairly prominent candy apple flavour in the finish. Medium light mouthfeel, with an awkward bitterness in the finish. Medium low carbonation as well. A surprisingly tasty amber, although I'm not really sure when this was bottled. Certainly surprising.

A- clear rusty amber, fizzy beige head. foam settles fast to a thin film.

S- sweet caramel malty nose, spicy and floral with hints of cinnamon and pepper.

T- toasty and sweet, nutty, with only a small amount of earthy hop flavor. decent, and fresh, but boring.

MF- smooth and slightly drying. delicate carbonation.

D- there are distinct similarities between all of the napa smith beers i've tried. it's not bad by any means, but a bit of diversity would help immensely.

Poured from a bomber into a pint glass, the beer is a slightly hazed rose-copper coloring with a chunky, off-white head that settles into a slight film across the top of the brew. Caramelly malt smells, with sour notes overriding. Smells watery, if that is possible. The beer has a roasted caramel malt flavor initially, with a slight hopping sneaking in the back door. Also some smokey flavor characteristics. The beer is slightly oily and slick, and it brings about a quick finish with a minimal sour malt aftertaste. Easy drinker, but not overly impressive by any means. I've had better Ambers, by far.

A: Deep brown amber pours to a finger and a half worth of head that dissipates to a blotchy veil of lace around the top.

S: Sweet malty aroma with some caramel and hints of grassy/grain. Maybe a hint of toasted malt in there as well.

T: Malty sweetness right from the start, leads to a toasted bread flavor along with some unsweet dark caramel flavors coming thru with a little touch of bitterness at the very end from the hops.

M: Light carbonation works well with the flavors. Slight dryness at the end leaves a crisp feeling.

O: Not a bad brew by any means. Nice amount of sweet and toasted malts with very minimal bitterness at the end.
