Poured from 12 oz bottle. Nice amber color with orange hue. Nice light head, beautiful lace. Nose of sweet malts - just hint of sour. Sweet malts spread out over the palate, then a sourness rolls in. Intended? Is the yeast or an infection?

The beer fills out well. Some nice flavors, but the lingering sour is off putting. It is not overpowering, but present.

I will see if similar on the IPA. They are selling this in 4 packs in Chicago market for $8.99....better figure out the issues at that price. 4 packs?? For an red ale?

Poured in a 12oz. mug, color is a cloudy amber with small head. The smell is of a hops with the taste more of a mildness with a little hoppy bite in aftertaste. Overall a nice average offering.

On tap, in a pint glass, at the brewery.

Appearance - Nice copper color. Amazing clarity. Moderate white, foamy head. Moderate stickage. A fine looking beer.

Smell - Malty/bready. A touch sweet. A bit toasty. Nice.

Taste - Moderate caramel flavor. Faint vanilla taste. A little toasty. A mild hop hit on the back-end.

Mouth - Fine carbonation. Clean.

Overall - A nice, straight-forward ale. British in character. Balanced. Very chugable. A touch more malt would be appreciated. I don't know why the ratings aren't a little higher (although the fact that the beer I was sampling came out of the fermentation tank yesterday might have something to do with this).

Had from a bomber and on tap at Prima. L: Hazy amber with a light copper tint under a 1” clingy white foam collar. S: Bread and citrus T: Starts with sweet malt, light bread crust and finishes with a bitter hop accent. F: Medium body and medium carbonation. O: I tend to prefer more assertive styles but this beer has character and is easy to drink.

A tasty red ale, doesn't do anything novel, but good nonetheless. Easy to down a few of these.

Poured into a Haw River Farmhouse Ales teku glass. No freshness date.

A- Pours a reddish dark amber color with a 1/4 inch light tan head that retains a bit before becoming a thin ring around the edge of the glass and minimal wisps of surface foam. Semi-resilient lacing leaves a jagged ring behind.

S- Glassy aroma with some herbal hops mixed in. Crystal malt smell.

T- Flavor's a bit better than the aroma leads on with some hop spiciness and a decent malt backbone. Fits the profile of a red ale but there's not much character behind it. Easy to drink.

M- Slightly oily with medium carbonation and a body leaning toward the fuller side.

O- Has a decent drinkability to it even if it is lacking in flavor. Could be a lot worse (see their Organic IPA).

Not as bad as I thought it would be. Color is amberish, and comes out a little cloudy. However, taste wise, it's decent. Kind of steely, but definitely has the kick of a red ale. A little spicy. It's nothing to scream about, and tastes a little standard, but still not that bad.
