Poured into a snifter from a 22oz bomber.
Pours a clear dark reddish copper with a very thin, off white head.
Aroma is full of hops. Lots of citrus with grapefruit being predominant along with some lime. A little bit of oak on the nose too.
The flavor has plenty of citrus up front from the hops along with a very strong bitterness that lasts throughout. There is definitely sweetness from the malt which is to be expected. I can taste some wine characteristics in this including oak and some grape. It is subtle though and more noticeable as the beer warms.
Overall, I am really impressed with this beer. It definitely improves as it warms and the complexities from the barrel aging become more apparent. My one complaint is it is a little sweet and syrupy but it never does become cloying. Really an awesome job and the best beer I have had from Napa Smith. Might pick up another bomber or two.

i dont drain pour beer very often, almost never in fact, so when i do, something is wrong. this wasnt a total wash down for me, but it was nasty in the tummy, and i just couldnt drink more than a glass of it. its overhopped for no reason, and i dont often say that about anything. huge bitterness and almost gritty texture do no favors to this thing, it tastes old and stale on the grain front too, but the bottle is relatively fresh. big woody hop flavors are really out of proportion, and the thick body just fills me up and turns my stomach over. even the biggest of hopheads probably cant enjoy this one very much. bronzed in color and real hazy and bubbly, its aggressive in feel too. just overdone and overactive beer that misses the mark by a considerable margin for me. its hotly alcoholic and lacking any nuance at all. its an unpleasant assault really, totally passable and unfortunate because i rather liked their organic ipa. this one goes too far.
