Bought at Ludlow Wines in Cincinnati for 2.25 as a 12 oz single.

Pours a beautiful towering egg white head over very cloudy pale yellowish brown - like pear juice. Head refuses to go away, receding to a thick 1/4 inch that yet leaves minimal lacing.

Smell - beautiful, complex, delicious: black tea, coriander, chamomille, lemon, starfruit, pears, bananas. This is where the party stops, though.

Taste - after the smell, underwhelming. Perhaps excessively dry, minerally, watery lemon juice dominates, with very little fruitiness or sweetness - though as it warms, the bananas come back. Some tea-like hops are there. Coriander comes through faintly.

Mouthfeel - very watery with very high carbonation that dominates the taste - very little sweetness or flavor to balance this out and so the carbonation just quickens the finish.

Good drinkability of course - but, though Id rather smell this, I think Id rather drink a Hoegaarden ... Ouch... Wonder if its been sitting around for too long ...

Poured from a 33 cl bottle into a footed tulip.

A: Hazy, light golden hue. Pours a large, foamy, white head. Settles slowly. Peak and valley lacing.

S: Yeast and sugar.

T: Yeasty, with hints of coriander, lemon pith, and sugar.

M: Light in body. Slightly bitter finish but well balanced with a hint of sweetness.

D: Session.

Atmosphere is pretty good. Nice head, and some persistent albeit lite lacing. Nose is basic yeast and sugary sweetness. Yeasty flavor accentuated with spice, citrus, and sugar. Overall, this is a pretty good quaff.

Recently I had a beer tasting event at my house and I served this. I also went with M to Handlebars in Tempe and they served it. She really knew how to drink it: she asked for a lemon with it.

Poured from a 12 oz. brown bottle with no date code into a pint glass and got 2 fingers of white head that settled to be a covering of white bubbly foam on the top of my glass.

A: Pours a hazy yellow, straw color with 2 fingers of head that dissipates at a moderate rate to leave an interesting, bubbly covering on the top of my glass.

S: Smell of wheat, yeast and some spice.

T: Taste of coriander, citrus and then coriander.

M: Light bodied and highly carbonated with a slightly smaller carbonation. Light, refreshing feel.

O: I like this beer and I like it better without the lemon. I would have it again and might try it on tap next time I'm in Tempe.

Poured a pale yellow gold body with fizzy well-carb'd two finger head that didn't last long. Spicy, clove-like aroma with a mix of sharp citric, mostly orange zest and just a touch of yeast. Overall, a good but not spectacular wit that I enjoyed but was just underwhelmed with at times. Light bodied, smooth, has a good citric orange like flavor with spicy clove to balance and never gets watery, muddled, or just a disgusting sour texture and taste, but the complementary spices aren't really shining and I don't get much more than orange (no banana, hints of tropical). A good wit nonetheless but not one of the best.

Sterkens White Ale is a well made beer with a pretty boring flavour. I bet it's great for a session beer but it's a little dull for just tasting.

A: Cloudy orange colour and a 5 mm head that lasts pretty well. 4.5

S: Yeasty, wheaty goodness. 4

T: Thick and wheaty with some mineral flavours. Not much else going on. 3

M: Really thick and foamy. I kinda like that. 4.5

O: 3.5

Bottle from Big Bear Cafe in D.C. Consumed during a jazz trio gig I had there.

Typical witbier appearance. Cloudy body with a thick white cap. The aroma brings coriander, light spice, orange peel. Pretty easy drinking. Citrusy flavor with a hint of pepper. I enjoyed this.
