Served on-tap at Al's of Hampden.

A - Pours ink black with a small half finger tall khaki head, quickly dissipating down to a small ring around the edges, leaving little to no lace down the glass. Goes pretty much dead flat after only five minutes.

S - Smells of dark roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, mild raspberry skin, oak and a bit of bourbon burn. Raspberry gives it a nice twang but the coffee is mostly gone.

T - Starts off with a mix of tart raspberries and dark roasted maltiness slowly giving way to hints of chocolate, coffee, oak and warming bourbon heat. Finish is a mix of dark roast and booze heat, lingering long after the finish.

M - Heavy body with moderate carbonation. Roasty, tart feel with a good bit of booze burn at the end of each sip. Not the most balanced beer, a bit all over the place honestly.

O - A nice rift on the regular Little Amps. The raspberries work well but yet again the coffee has mostly disappeared from the picture. Nice to try but probably my last favorite variant to date.

Draft offering at the source. Served in a snifter, the brew appears black in color with a rich tan head. Some spotty lace sticks to the glass and a swirl effortlessly revives a cap that retains well.

The smell is raw with oak and earthen with plenty of roast from the grain and the faintest hint of coffee remains. It gets progressively more fruited across the nose as it warms up. A bit of solvent booze is also evident.

The taste is raw oak instead of that typical smooth vanilla barrel aspect. It is boozey and slightly solent with earth, citrus and a bit of fruit. Some tobacco/leather blend into the aftertaste with pleasant notes of chocolate.

This is a medium to lighter bodied brew with a moderate amount of carbonation. An interesting 1-off in the sunny side department. The fruit inclusion was enough to be noticed and enjoyable without being over-powering. However, the alcohol was a bit more forward than the other treatments. This was missing that big coffee punch I love about sunny side but in it's own right, its quite enjoyable.
