A 1 L growler filled earlier today. For my glass and my chili.

A: The witbier is lighter, golden pale but still transparent. That clarity shows off a steady stream of bubbles in the center of the glass. A two-plus finger head on the first pour whittles away over time but doesn't lace.

S: Wheat, pepper, and citrus. The wheat -- airy with a bit of tartness. The pepper -- robust with a hot finish. Citrus -- orange goodness to settle the other two aspects down. As witbiers go, the nose ain't half bad.

T: The wheat is a little heavy, plodding down the beer. After the initial drag, the spices come in to save the day. The orange addition is bright, cutting off the coriander's heat. The ale improved greatly as it warmed, the pepper settling into a supporting role rather than the dominant start. A vegetal hop finish has the final word.

M: Another step towards the right direction. I ended up using 1/2 of the growler for my chili.

Served on-tap at Al's of Hampden.

A - Pours clear golden yellow with a nice one and half finger tall white head leaving very little lace down the glass.

S - Smells of wheat, banana, clove, and spicy yeast. The hops come thru as it warms up a bit but the wheat is pretty strong, not too bad tho.

T - Starts off with a mix of chewy malt and spicy yeast slowly giving way to some very light sweetness, clove, and banana. Finish is a mix of chewy malt and spicy yeast, lingering on the pallet for quite awhile after consumption.

M - Light body and flavor with moderate carbonation. Smooth, chewy feel that doesn't linger on the pallet for very long.

O - Not too bad. Most of Pizza Boys wheat beers have been pretty good so far. I would still prefer the Hefe over this one, mostly because it has a little juicier taste, but this one was still good none the less.
