A wickedly bitter wheat ale, listed as X-Hoppy Wheat. On tap at Al's.
A: Like orange juice, thick and pulpy looking. The ale is on the straw colored end of the spectrum, maybe a dirty blonde. Opaque. A thin white head too.
S: The citrus hops can't be contained, thick and oily and nearly dominant. Wheat is present, a lightly tart compliment to the intense hoppiness.
T: A seemingly well balanced hop bomb - I didn't really mind the bitterness at all. First though the hops start off oily, citrus and black pepper, and plentiful, overwhelming everything else. The wheat adds a lighter body, absorbing some of the bitterness, with a resilient body. The bite of the hops lingers, lasting long after each sip is gone. Truly x-hoppy.
M: Bitter but approached, the lighter alcohol levels are a big plus too. Oily and delicious.

Served on-tap at Al's of Hampden.
A - Pours hazy straw yellow with a dense two finger tall white head leaving sticky rings of lace down parts of the glass.
S - Smells of pungent citric hops, pine needles, fresh cut grass, lemon and plenty of bready wheat.
T - Starts off with an intense citric hop bit that never really fades away. Hints of fresh grass and pine needles combine with some chewy wheat to offer some contrast but the hops really dominate from start to finish. Finish is dry, lingering on the palate for quite awhile.
M - Medium body and moderate carbonation. Plenty of bitterness and chewy wheat in the feel throughout.
O - I like the idea of this one but it is a little out of balance. I love hoppy beers but this one is a little over the top. I look forward to seeing where this one goes in the future.

A - Two fingers worth of big fluffy airy white foam... Solid retention gives way to a full rich lacing... The color is a lemony straw yellow... There is a definitive medium haze throughout... Still with no discernible carbonation post pour though some sluggish carbonation is generated after the agitation of each sip... A good bit of lacing clings to the glass throughout the session... A pretty nice looking brew...
S - Lemon zest... The hops are some what muted but take the form of both piney and citrusy... There is slight spiced wheat component that lingers beneath the surface... Perhaps some white pepper notes... A very nice aroma, but a little bit too subdued...
T - A bit of light wheat to start... A formidable mix of hops, both earthy and citrusy... Some faint pepper notes... Lemon zest... Some tart apple skin...
M - Starts light and delicate... A touch of lushness... Clean and crisp... The bitterness than kicks into overdrive and coats the entire mouth... The bitterness lingers between each sip...
D - An interesting beer... There's a lot of things I like in terms of appearance, mouthfeel and the overall concept... However, this one is a little too out of balance for me... The hop bitterness dominates and is neither supported or complimented by anything else going on... All that being said, this is a very nice and surprisingly quaffable brew that I still found refreshing... With a bit of refinement this one could be top notch...
