The beer pours a clear straw yellow with half an inch of a fluffy white head that laces. The nose is very mild with a touch of white grape sweetness. The taste, however, is potently bitter, grapefruit rind quality, with very little sweetness to back it up. As the beer warms, it improves, considering the blossoming sweetness. It's bitter all the way through with a dry finish. This beer is tasty as a potently hoppy lager, but a bit of a let down due to its lack of balance.

I had this on tap at Al's of Hampden, served in a tulip pint.

The color is brilliant golden with thin white cap with tight bead, The smell is very citrusy and herbal with mild floral/tropical hop aroma, mostly hops but some mild malty grain notes in the light mineral aroma. Mouthfeel is very bitter and spicy with some astringency from the hops and moderately high carbonation with somewhat tannic tinge and light yeast mineral element.

The flavor is bold and hoppy, most would probably say this is an IPA if tasting blind a lot of tropical hop flavor with dry body and light yeast note that adds to the subtle spice tinges with mildly creamy aspect from high carbonation that has a subtle taste effect. The gentle toasted pilner malt character is the only part that resembles a zwickle, but I understand the loose categorization 'unfiltered lager' that means anything that is lagered and not filtered being used. I liked this a lot as a beer in general, very juicy citrusy taste it seems like it has some Citra or maybe Simcoe, but the similarity to traditional Zwickel is hard to see. I like the dry feel and it is very drinkable.

Draft offering at the source served in a tulip shaped pint glass. The brew appears a clear light copper color with a white head that is quick to fade. Some patchy to webby strings of lace stick to the glass. Streaming bubbles of carbonation maintain a thin layering atop.

The aroma includes faint caramel malt and fruity to floral hops. An overall delicate nose that is without fault and very clean/enjoyable. It displays a snappy herbal to pine quality evolving across the back as it warms up.

The taste has a bit of fruity alcohol ester mixing with a fruity to floral hop inclusion. Some citrus zest and herbal to grassy component is present across the middle finishing with some caramel malt and the faintest touch of buttery diacetyl.

This is a medium to light bodied brew with a crisp finish and it is very easy drinking. This is a pretty solid helles with a hopped up twist that has enough restraint that it lays just outside the border of what you would expect but isnt dominating by any regards. Get this while you can, its nice.

Served on-tap at Al's of Hampden.

A - Pours golden yellow with a nice one finger tall white head, dissipating down to a light film, leaving spotty trails of lace down parts of the glass. This version is a little lighter in color than the Tired Hands.

S - Smells of pale malt, pungent grassy hops and a dash of tropical fruit. The hops are not shy in this one. Very nice nose from start to finish. It compares quite favorably to its sister beer.

T - Stars off with an intense grassy hop bite slowly giving way to some chewy pale malt and dulled tropical fruit. Finish is a little chewy with plenty of lingering bitterness. Almost identical here as well, maybe a small difference in feel.

M - Medium-Light body with moderate carbonation. Smooth, slightly chewy feel with plenty of bitterness. I like this one but the feel of the Tired Hands version is just a touch smoother.

O - I am a sucker for these hoppy lagers so I really like this one. It is very easy to consume yet still very flavorful. I do like the Tired Hands version by the slightest of margins, because of its smoother more rounded taste/feel, but this one is still excellent.
